Yep, yesterday was a shocker, but I tipped Brisbane to win as well, I didnt expect that sort of margin however I had this horrible feeling all week we wouldnt win yesterday.
However, In the cold hard light of day, if anyone thought a handful of trades and draft picks was going to have us at the top of the table unbeaten all year, let alone finish in the top four, your more of an optimist than I am
Firstly, McCarthy, the guy has had over a year out of the game, he's not going to come into form overnight, next season he will be far better for this years run and a solid pre season leading into 2018
Fyfe - Another one returning from a long time out of the game. I have never seen anyone suffer a serious injury and return to play better than they did at a consistent level before they were injured.
Grey, Cox, Logue, Hughes, Tucker, Blakely, Balic, Ryan, Collins & Alex Pearce. First and second year players who are still learning what it takes to be at the top level. Ever seen a team dominate a season and final series with that many 1st and 2nd year players?
And finally Hamlin, Brad Hill, Kersten and yet again McCarthy. These guys have only played half a season together. It will take 1-3 years for the team to be settled and for it to gel. They will know each others strengths and weaknesses, learning new structures and team diciplines.
Thats a lot of personnel change in just 2 years. It wont happen overnight, but it will happen. Im not slashing my wrists!
