I think it's the management of our players that gets me down. I know the coaches know far more than me but.
Logue I thought played quite well except for the eagles game. In one game he went forward and kicked 1.3 and easily could of been 4 straight. His one on one contest against jake stringer were he held the ball up and halved the contest was priceless. He showed something. I just can't understand where someone like Sutcliffe ( who tries his best) played more than 100 games has shown us exactly where he is going to reach. Unfortunately that reach is not up to where we need to go.
Johnathon griffin - a great freo man and stalwart has honestly not played well in 18 months. He had one fantastic game for 3qrts against gws last year but got outgunned in the last qtr by mummy. Other than that he has been truely awful to just serviceable. Truely tries his guts out but just no longer mobile or can't recall last contested mark. Though I thought he was just going against Brisbane yesterday.
Stephen hill has had 3 absolute shockers . For someone who is 27 that is simply not good enough. Yes he was injured but he should go to peel for one or 2 weeks. No one should be immune. Let's give Darcy a go , and josh Deluca is surely close to a call up. Thought Sam Collins was beaten yesterday but not sure where he sits. I thought he fought it out. Hamlin played well thank goodness.
The same applies to kersten who has much presence as a paper bag blowing across the oval. Come on the 2's for a spell.

Have to disagree on one point Ricco, that team is littered with 1st round picks - 11 are ranked 18th pick or better.

I'd cut the forwards some slack at this stage, its nigh on impossible to judge them with delivery they are getting. Perhaps run McCarty and Kersten with peel this week to (hopefully) get their confidence up, remind them what a footy looks like. Can't see that they need a rest.

As far as the defence goes Logue and Hughes surely cant play worse than Sutcliffe and Sheridan(although not a defender this week) and have more upside so play them. Collins doesn't add much for mine when Hamling (thank goodness for Hamling) and Jonno are playing. Cant wait for a fit A.Pearce next year because he's a gun in the making.

The mids need a kick up the class. They are our senior guys and they have been deplorable for three weeks.

I'm sure if the Freo mids had Taylor Walker to kick to they'd manage to hit Jenkins or Lynch ...barring that Betts would clean it up from the boundary line

S Hill is not right, Fyfe is not right. Team is exhausted. Why more werent rested on the weekend I'll never understand.
Too many B-graders in AND out of team, that we perhaps expect far too much of. (Tabs, sutcliffe, Griiffen, Suban, Apeness and the like. ...)
Too many pivotal long term injuries - where are we at with a fit Zac Clarke, a fit Harley Bennell, a fit A Pearce ..and maybe Apeness...
A game plan that is not existent, or outdated, but definitely relies upon superior effort rather than skill. This leads to exhaustion, and the carrying of players that arent skilled.
All the above things are "The Problem". Pretty east to identify, critique and pull apart.
No one should be surprised where we are at.

For me, the reat of 2017, should be about "The Solution".
No surprises Weller and Blakely are the improvers this year....they got 16 games or more into them last year. Would like to have seen Tucker come on more than he has.
But "The Solution" has to be keep playing the kids. (LOgue,Cox,Darcy...try out Deluca...
And please arm them with a skills based game plan!!

Times up for the B-grader 'knowns' - Sheriden, Sutcliffe, Griffen, Suban, Ibbot..and the heat is on the Kerstens, Tabs, and Spurrs.
As a supporter group, we gotta be pragmatic, and we got to be prepared for some hard times.
But we simply have to start looking forward, and as far as I am concerned, we've wasted a bit of the rebuild program with the stupid team selections at the start of the season, and some of the "we want to play finals" selections over the last 4 weeks.
Have a break RoLy, and come out and and build for the future. PLEASE!!

DeLuca & Nyhuis should both come in but agree with Polly out of all our B graders Suban still offers a hard contest and would be perfect to tag Sellwood (might beat him but would make sure he earnt every touch)
Forget Sheridan he is soft as butter with his attack on the ball, probably why he is hardly ever out injured ,probably Suttcliffe is the same

Can't agree on Kersten. When the ball gets to him he's pretty good.

And I can't understand Logue being dropped. Unless it is purely for his benefit. Its like Gray being dropped last year for "poor disposal" after making a reasonably impressive debut.

But if you are going to persist with young players then Langdon & Hughes are worth persisting with. I feel sorry for him, but Sutcliffe does have to go. He might get picked up by another club, but I don't think its likely.

Agree with all the above. I would much rather see our young players playing and losing than the usual picks losing...BUT, I reckon upper management may want to see results more quickly...bums on seats etc. If that is the case then they are very short sighted and out of touch with most of us supporters who understand the pros and cons of a proper rebuild. Play the young ones...so what if Darcy is 18? He will be enthusiastic and will surely not be any less effective than Griff, who is a great servant of the club. What about Nyhuis? He was very good in wafl GF last year. Deluca? Play him! Remember Menegola? Ok, some injuries but not a sniff of a game. Geelong play him...why couldn't we take that risk?

I don't think the money men in the suits (not being footy supporters themselves) realise that Freo is the least likely club to lose supporters over short term results. Some will jump ship however if they see a long term plan to destroy the fabric of the club.

Carlton are playing their young kids regardless of age. They had five teenagers in their team at one stage this year.

they will come up with the same ol same ol excuse ,you cannot play too many young players ,or rookies at once.
nyhuis, did a great job on ryan in last years gf, and again when peel played subii a few eeks ago,put him in the backline, suttcliffe out, darcy at worst in a forward pocket to do ruckwork ,at least bring the ball to ground, even so young he is an imposing lump of a kid.sheridan out as well, crozier to the backline where he went so well late last year.
geez the options are there to put into play ,dont wait till the last 3 or 4 games ,do it now.
