Why is it with the number of development coaches on big money and resources etc players like Sheridan ,Sutcliffle,Hughes and Tucker etc aren`t improving
Time for a big rethink and i honestly believe Ross for all his positives is not a coach to bring young players on and improve , game plan is based on what Swans did 12yrs ago(one of my biggest bug bears why does he continue to talk in riddles when guys like Richardson & Hinkley are more honest/striaght forward, lets call a spade a spade)
No wonder Suma quit (perhaps he saw writing on the wall a few years ago)
From what i hear maybe 'Captain Kirk' might have being be the right fit

Most of our young players ARE stepping up. Sutcliffe and Sheridan are 5 season players now and should be doing better, Hughes and Tucker are going ok, and you are being harsh to can them this early.

Agree those two young ones are not bad players BUT are they improving given the worlds best training facility and the so called developement coaches
No attacking game plan ie even at training told to look backwards or sideways as soon as they get the ball (do Crows do that?)

None of our players, bar Logue who will be something else (I have to believe this), are top ten draft picks - Stephen Hill was if memory serves me well - and Brisbane have these recruits in spades. They are major underachievers, and an exhausted Freo side tonight got belted. We were also belted 20 - 5 in free kicks by 3/4 time.

Correct...Tucker and Hughes should not be judged the same as Sheridan and Sutcliffe. In 2017 you cannot have Sutcliffe, Sheridan and Spurr across the half back line together. We need speed in the back half ala Weller and Hamling. You cannot carry too many slow players in the back half....they are getting beaten for speed too often. We had a reboot in round three, but now we have that same slowness about us.

Hi Corporal Agarn,I would like to add young master Grey,He has been a godsend.

As for Sheridan and Sutty,they are cogs that in the right team could actually be very useful,unfortunately,not here,not with this coach,or ...ummm...".game plan..."

But it is hard for them to get it done with bad direction .

He may as well tell the to go and stand in the corner as they aren't made to be accountable

( man on man while the opposition has the ball )

He has NO game plan that works anymore .

Interesting time to throw in the comparison with Hinkley and Richardson given both of their teams got belted this weekend. What are St Kilda away from Etihad - something like 0 - 14 over the last 2 years???

The way people are carrying on it's as though they were expecting a top 4 finish. We won 4 games last year. We're playing kids and starting again. There is going to be inconsistency, poor effort and, most importantly, fatigue.

This AFL stuff isn't as easy (or as black and white) as many seem to think.

All this being sold on the young players being the source of our problem is rubbish. Look at the line up from the ladder leaders. I'd be happy to be corrected on this, but I don't see this as a team littered with 1st round draft picks. I haven't heard of half of these players.

We have a coaching and development problem. Not a player talent problem.

What bothers me is that the 2008 draftees will be 26 - 28 years old at the end of this season. Stephen Hill, Mike Walters, that bunch - by the time RoLy gets rolling they'll be teetering on retirement. By the time our club works out that the Sheridan/Sutcliffe/Apeness/Tabs lot are a bunch of over-hyped ponces there will be a gaping chasm on our list (that will take years to repair). As for Hill, Walters - and yes, even Fyfe - what a waste of top footy talent. They are in their prime and should be scorching the league (as well as filling the All Australian side).
