That to me was what was missing this arvo. they tried their guts out but lacked the finesse to do the right thing often enough. Dropping Ibbo might have been a good idea but covering for him is hard too.

Yes, but they were just as inexperienced as us.

I actually think we should have played Darcy instead Griffen , we are in a rebuild anyway, give Darcy the experience, we got smashed at the clearances today with an experienced ruckman and midfield

IMHO, their more experienced players (eg Pendlebury, Sidebottom) did better than ours at critical moments of the game...just like Larkin has mentioned, I can't fault the endeavour displayed..

Score line was flattering today. They were the far superior side bar some moments of momentum.
We are simply lacking enough class across all lines.
People love spur and he might give his all but we are going nowhere with him. Why Sutcliffe is playing can only be something the scientists can explain on the Bermuda Triangle. They are not alone and getting them out of the side is easier said than done. Who comes in.
As for griffin I think that has to be the last game he plays baring a total injury crisis of talls. No more.
Mundy needs a rest and so does Fyfe.
Far too many to name but really poor game.
As for Ross's ability to get up a premiership team or do a rebuild, I am too disappointed to comment.

Where would you like to be year 1 into a rebuild, exceed? We are currently eighth.

I think Larkin is spot on but I think a few of the kids are also a bit drained. Understandably so.Roll on the bye.

Its been the most exciting season for a while and it appears Morgan got caught in traffic. So be happy everyone.

For sure the score line flattered us - totally agree spurr has been a good player for us but moving forward I think we need to find someone better, same for sutcliffe except I can't remember him ever playing a good game, surely Griffen Logue would be better than either of those two. Why is it that we never seem to have a forward/ fwd line structure that enabled fwds to lead up to ball ? We are always trying to kick over the back ? V frustrating to watch

For me there are two types of turnovers ...

Type 1 - dropped marks, missing targets, panicked kick forward, and poor skills under no pressure.

Type 2 - turnovers when a player is trying to create and they hold it for too long as they sum up their options, or try to spot up an attacking option in the corridor, or try to beat a player with pace or step.

Type 1 - unforgivable

Type 2 - forgivable for a period of time.

Some of the new kids making the second type --- hope they keep trying to take game on.

We got smashed in the midfield which is always going to make your forward structure look ordinary.

Griff looks like the best that he can give is to make a contest in the ruck, he can't actually influence the outcome. If that's the case you might as well give young Darcy a couple of games but he probably only has the fitness for 2 or 3 games this year.

Our slow starts are killing us even when Sandi plays. IMO, we looked cooked. Our leaders have played out of their skin to get us this far. We didnt deserve to win today and I'm thankful we've improved from last year. No guarantee we're going to win next week either. But even if we don't, we'll be at 6-6 after 12 rounds. Finals is still not out of the question with some calvary coming back. Ballas, Sandi and both Harleys. I say Roly is doing a great job of rebuilding. Things could be alot worse.

I had a chat with Brennan Cox, Tay Duman and Matt Uebergang outside Gate 9 today before the game (who were manning some kind of kiddie's activity tent or something). They were just standing around waiting for anyone to come up to them, so I did (and had a good long talk).

Big blokes, tough and happy to be here - I know we're in for some good times when they get a gig in the bigs. All defenders, all with oversized mitts. I would never let go of Johnno or Hamling for even a single game this season - the rest can give one of the young bloods a chance at any time. I'm not worried in the slightest - if it was me, Cox would get a call up toot-sweet (the French spell it tout suite, but it means the same thing).

From what I've seen of Brennan Cox he looks like he will grab it with both hands when he's up.

We seem to have good options in defence but with the forward line the cupboard is bare.
