Is there a stat that ranks teams for goals caused by turnovers. We would have to be turnover kings. Often choose poor options and then miss easy targets or put team mates under unnecessary pressure.

Yeti, we have a plethora of mids, so letting 1 take an effective kick-in would mean 3 or 4 are standing around watching the ball get delivered into our forward line, and would free up Johnno as a tall target, meaning the opposition cant triple team Sandi as often.

Pretty sure the reason MJ kicks in is so he can man up quickly on the key forward who is usually stationed about 30m out in their "zone" if he's 70m out on a wing and doesn't get used there is no one as a last line of defence.

True enough PK, but that is only as important as an instant turnover is likely. So if Johnno as a target for kick-ins makes a turnover less likely, then having their key forward instantly manned up is less important.

Luke Ryan took the kickout right near the end and booted it 60 metres off a couple of steps to Fyfe who dropped what is normally a sitter for him, just to top things off nicely. Think we might see Ryan take over kick-in duties over time.

And when kicking in from the Subi end, please go round the railway wing at least some of the time! Even the umpires just trot off the Mueller park side because they know we will kick it out there. One time, owing to a free kick of some sort we were forced to go up the Railway wing and Brad Hill got a goal out of it.

I'm no genius, but if you are too predictable, the opposition know what you are going to do, and they don't let you do it. That is why you mix it up - just to keep them guessing.

I just saw Corporal's query about goals from turnovers. There's a half useful (and user-friendly tool) on the AwFL website that ranks teams/players stats.
Most of you probably know about it, but if you don't, ..this is the link : www.afl.com.au/stats
There's no "Goals from Turnover" stats, unfortunately, but we actually aren't too bad on most things.
And surprisingly, we are only 4th worst for 'Clangers'. Essendon, Adelaide - (yes, Adelaide!) , and Richmond, apparently stuff things up more than we do! ??!!

Don't want to sound like Basil, Bruce or bloody Gerard, but we seem about mid range on most things. We are 5th in Frees for, and 5th for frees against !? That's not indicative of the games I've been watching, I've got to admit...

Our worst comparative stat is our tackling. We are the 17th worst tackling team, and I'd be pretty certain that is not a statistic RoLy would be proud of.?!
If it wasn't for Brady Grey, we would clearly be the 18th worst...

You are spot on MR !! The bugger definitely said that 3 or four times before the 1st quarter was nearly over ! I was well on to that point yesterday, but ...well.....anyway...

So, go through all of them and see how right and knowledgeable the 1988 Brownlow Medalist is. Or, perhaps, how wrong and bloody negative he is.... As I stated yesterday, he should be put out on pasture....
