I'm sure the umpiring department will convince us that the Walters mark/free kick decision — way out in the open where everyone could see it - was correct. Still, that wasn't what cost us the game, but it was certainly a momentum shifter.

I'm also looking forward to the justification that the umpiring was 33.3% better because there were four field umpires rather than three. By my independent calculations it was 100 per cent worse.

Another thing to pique my interest is that it took 10 officials (4 + 4 +2) to control a game involving 44 on-field competitors. Then you add a couple who control the comings and goings of eight other competitors who are off the field from time to time and a few more who are reserves for the 10 officials, plus some watching the performance of the three groups of officials. Oh, and some timekeepers as well. Does that beat any other sporting competition around the world? No wonder the AFL needs so much of our hard-earned.

Sure they will, FB49, along with the numerous illegal disposals, especially in the first half, the 4 to nothing free kick count in the fist 10 minutes of each of the first 2 quarters, the headlock on the Freo player in the Pies goalsquare, the front on contact on MaCarthy in the Freo goalsquare. All legit in their eyes, so we must be seeing things, biased or stoned I guess

There was a Pie throw called right in front of where I sit. Margetts was in perfect position to see it, but it wasn't him who blew it, it was another ump. Now I appreciate an umpire who lets the little things go, as long as it goes both ways, and with Margetts it doesn't.
