Cheers Freosiren, astutely observed. It would be nice to think that admin have pulled it with a mind to preserving it for occasional use in the pregame. The cynic in me says they have rethought the risk of having non-club sanctioned ceremonies either outside the ground or at other venues such as the MCG.

Bags not trailering it across the Nullabor. But what a great road trip that would be. Selfies with the rock and the great Australian Bight! Maybe Uluru and the premiership cup on the way back!

Yep, there are (at least) three explanations:

i. they realised the inherent value in keeping it;
ii. they had a private offer and sold it / gave it to someone; or
iii. they were worried it would turn up at a future date so made sure it was never seen again.

Follow-up question: if you want to send a styrofoam rock to the bottom of the sea, do you tie people around it?

Checking with Ross's the club has decided to hang on to it and do something with it. Occasionally use it and/or display it was suggested.
