In defence of Pearce, he was very prominent in the 1st quarter when the rest of the team were still asleep.

I always check the pre game drills to see if they are switched on. They didn't look it on Sunday. Sure the kicked and marked but just not with any intensity - it looked more like a yoga session.

That's better than trying to see who drinks the most Gatorade on a rain soaked day.

We are playing the kind of football most of us have been waiting almost 2 years to see. In my thinking, this has come about from a 'nothing to lose' approach to the game. It doesn't necessarily come down to personnel, but then again, it does. Playing like there's 'too much to lose' is going to make our game anal - there's no better side to let it all hang out than the league leaders. Yep, at 6 and 3 we've got nothing to lose.

I'll go with having a better structure around the ball – always having someone coming past; knowing whether to go short or long; organising (finger pointing) who to take who; tapping the ball down to someone who should be there; pressure pressure pressure, playing to your strengths and nullifying your weaknesses things like that. You can't fake this or let it all hang out. Its structure teamwork and split second decision making that is made easier by knowing what to do when where and why.

Split second decision making comes from not having to second guess whether your decision adheres rigidly to the game plan. That is the difference between this season and last season. All the rest (players running past, constructive talk on the field , organising etc) flows from that.

That can be a time and practice thing RM. I think Lyon's philosophy on game plans revolves around the principle of simplifying decision making for players under pressure as much as anything else.

As Polly alludes to, a going hell for leather approach is good to get everybody's blood up, nothing wrong with having some spring heels to help carry that off and getting a smart structure around the contest is pretty useful too.
