The same could be said of Tabs and Hurley's nuts, or Fyfe and Yeo.

Trent Cotchin will wear his $1000 fine like a badge of honour.
Him and lecras are the two most laughable tough guys I've ever seen.

There was provocation in both those incidents Morgan, Cotchin hit Neale at the start of the game, and as stated Neale was pinged twice for retaliation, even for you this defence is a bit off.

Shane, we need a BS button alongside the you beaut button, and we need it now.

I'm with Morgan, because that is how the tribunal has been all season. But at some point someone will whack someone good and hard, and then the tribunal will overreact. And Ballas will cop 3 weeks for something that would have been a fine this week.

Too much analysis going on here. The new standard is that it's ok to punch someone so long as you are holding his (or her, to be PC) jumper when you do it.

Righto. I'm going to try and do that in the pub on Sunday before the game. I'll let you know the outcome.

Ok, but if the pub test decides what constitutes a suspension, then you're going to lose most aspects of footy. I tried to take a speccie over a random bloke at a pub once and it did not go well.

I can't believe the angst over a glancing blow in some push and shove. For years people have complained the game has gone soft, now there's a MRP that doesn't sweat the small stuff and everyone is clutching their pearls.

Can't believe Cochin escaped suspension for that jumper punch on lachie - it was such a cheat shot - so I guess if you have hold of a jumper you can punch the crap out of anyone you want ??? Only encourages players to engage in this behavior! What are you thinking AFL ??

Aaargh! I think I need help. I find myself agreeing with Morgan. There must be someone I should see about this.

The fact is a fist made contact to Neale's head and whether intentional or not, the action of Cotchin was to clench a fist and strike forward above Neale's shoulders.

It is not about whether Neale was hurt or not or that the game should be protected from becoming 'soft'. Clenching a fist in anger and directing it towards another player's face should be punished.

Plus it is just childish and silly and does not make the game any better to play or watch.

For those that disagree with this I take it you would encourage your son or daughter to do what Cotchin did and wouldn't mind them being on the receiving end of this type of treatment during a junior game of footy.

Morgan, as someone just said, what we are pissed off about, is that the first Freo player to give a short, soft, right to the head of an opponent will be suspended for 3 weeks as a deterrent to it becoming a blight on the game. It happens regularly. (Fyfe and the head clash, Pav and the high bump, Johnno and the high bump; wasn't that one 4WEEKS?)
