TOPIC: Ins and Outs

If you are referring to the final moments leading to Richmond'a last goal, RM, I'm not so sure you can put that much blame on Sutcliffe...if I recall properly, Fyfe took possession of the high loose ball, and his handball to Sutcliffe running by was a bit too hot and out of reach, and given that Sutcliffe was then subsequently surrounded by 3-4 Richmond players, the turnover was inevitable...

I'm not saying that he will be a world beater, but given the choice, I would still prefer Sutcliffe or Sheridan..

Lucky for us that the ball spilled out, the umps would have been keen to call holding the ball and run the clock down.

Not so sure about that RM. It was Sutcliffe, but the Richmond player did pretty well to protect the ball.

Ibbo and Sutcliffe have both been vulnerable at times...and there has to be some consideration sooner or later for up-and-comers playing well out of defence for Peel...Cox, Nyhuis, Ryan and Logue. Sooner or later these young guys will get a chance. We need speed, strength and burst off half back. Weller has been fantastic drive out of defence for us...and Hughes makes up for lack of speed with strength and good decision making.

My recollection is that the ball spilt to ground in front of him,he and the Tiger were both in a position to get behind the ball and force there way through. The Tiger got more behind the ball than Sutcliffe, and it cost us a goal and percentage.

To fit Ballas in the team in a few weeks time Id send Crozier down back and give Ibbo a spell. Croz was good for us last year playing down back, much more effective than as a fwd.

Haggers has his account of players to come back for Freo and WC. A biased selection of photos to accompany the article show him up once again. Ballantyne looking forlorn with his bruised cheek and Petrie smiling with his fist pumping the air...

Ibbo and Spurr seem to be below their best. Two years ago they were intercept marking everywhere. I hope they can find some form somehow.

Was Petrie the one who broke Balla's jaw??

I think you are a bit tough in your example Raglan Matt as a number of players from both teams were under so much pressure they fumbled and missed handballs. The Richmond goal was really an exceptional effort with a matter of a micro second to stop it .

If it was a one off Jockstrap, I would agree with you, but being biased against Sutcliffe, I watch him closely, and it happens regularly enough for it to be a problem that costs us games.

Johnno, hacks photos sum up the 2 clubs, a fella prepared to put his personal safety aside in his effort to win the game, and a prancing showpony. You, I'm sure can work out which is which.

Sutcliffe has been okay since he came back in and Ibbotson has been gradually improving. Our backline is definitely our weakest area but is still getting the job done. A small defender that is an elite kick would be handy. Pearce was also solid and his set shot goal was important in a game where we missed a fair few. They are suggesting Hill is ready but I think they would give him another week.
Definitely still plenty of upside in the team. McCarthy will have a big game sooner rather than later and three talls is so much harder for the opposition to manage. Really, this is our most promising forward set up in twenty years.

How good would it be to still have Dylan Roberton on our list. He doesn't get mentioned much on this site but over the last few years he has improved out of sight at the Saints. I know he returned to Victoria for family reasons but he would be such an asset to our backline right now,
