Just watched the replay
Apart from feeling the euphoria of the last gasp win once again, I thought I would be able to relax and enjoy the whole game, listen to the commentary with a smirk, knowing the result.
However, it seems to me that the only Freo player that Eddie knows is Nat Fyfe.
He mistook Connor Blakeley and Cam Mac for Fyfe on several occasions and I ended up shouting at the screen on what should've been a sweet victory. Tosser.

Were you agreeing with Eddie about Richmond not getting the 50 metres and the free kicks Shane.
He went on and on about Richmond not getting 50 metres and you only heard crickets when Michael Walters got
slammed into the turf, Fyfe being held in a head lock several times..
Eddie had a go after Basil and Dennis called the Richmond game which ended your 9 game winning run because of constant talk of a Fremantle comeback.

I don't have to agree with him. I like his effort and his tone. He tries to keep the game interesting and keeps the focus on the action, which must be difficult when you've got Healy going on about work rate all the time and Lynch looking for blokes to dob into the tribunal every 5 minutes.

We were well in front and Richmond were coming at us. That's where the interest was so he played up that angle, like all good radio commentators do. He's not a naturally talented commentator but he gives it a good crack.

If you like that sort of thing, yeah.

Personally, I find it worse than listening to Ian Smith commenting on the cricket. The f** b****** was calling a game of rugby I watched the other night and he did the same thing Eddie does, get all excited over one team's chances but he shut up after a while. Someone must have thrown a fresh pie out on the windowsill.

I guess it goes without saying that you've got an even harder job if you're paired with Dwayne.

He was calling Zempilas and Cometti bias because they were too focused on Fremantle as they tried to generate excitement among viewers as the game was over by three quarter time. The next day the Collingwood president was subjected to the same complaints for appearing to “cheer” for Carlton calling of the game against Adelaide at the MCG.

I like Ian Smith on the the third day of the test match when he finally gives up and start abusing New Zealand.

Eddie's post-match wrap ups, when he regularly has to try and gloss over how he got it so spectacularly wrong - yet again -are a self-promoting showman's master class in turd polishing. It may be his only genuine talent, but he is really good at it.

Perth now and he west are reporting that it's "dockers supporters venting their fury at Maguire"
A lot of the posts I read where from neutral supporters. Seems the thought is universal.

Ummm, my point is that just because 3 of our players have 'man-buns', he just called them all Fyfe...It's not an option to say 'Well, they all look the same' and it is not an excuse, a lesson in jumper numbers before he's calling a game would be helpful...

I think the Melbourne based commentators, (who are well in the majority) have realised that there does not appear to be a Vic based club that looks a shoe in to make it deep into the finals this year. The Hawks grand reign is at an end, the Bulldogs are not exactly setting the world on fire and now Richmond are into their mid season pattern of dropping a stack of games in a row despite having a good start and being at full strength. This leaves them with the Saints who are playing some decent footy but still a pretty young team and the Bummers who are celebrating what they have overcome in the past few seasons. Crows, GWS, Slime and Port make up the top four spots on the ladder and Freo are banging on the door in ninth spot. There is a good chance that by round 12, 5 of the top 8 teams will be from interstate which could well trigger another crisis meeting of the Melbourne based clubs. Its no wonder they cheer squad the Vic teams when they look like getting a win.
I like Pavs style of commentary, even finds time to embiggen Midland.
