About the only change we should be calling for come the bombers game is Sam Collins to replace an out of sorts Ibbotson. Other than that we played okay with RTB needing to address our forward entry strategy to give out forwards a better opportunity from the work that done midfield. Possibly one additional change maybe giving Taberner a go in place of tucker.
But let look at positives:- the wet toast will play in coming weeks Port (a), dogs (h), bombers (a), giants (h) the only possible win they can chalk up is bombers away, leaving a 5w 5l result after round 10 then they play the crows (a) 5w 6l, and lots of upset eagles fans!

I would pencil in over the same period to Freo :- bombers (h), tigers (a), Carlton (h), crows (a), pies (h) 3 wins and 2 losses for a 6 w 5 l record and above eagles after rounds 11!

Without aiming to sound like a knob, I wouldn't pencil anything in, and sure as heck couldn't care less what West Coast are doing. Bottom line is: we have a bunch of kids who have been going pretty darn good. Last night there were 8 who were playing in their first derby. We are going to win some good ones like we already have, and we are also going to take our fair share of licks. But at least there are some genuinely good youngsters coming up (Balic impressive last night I thought).

I think last night was mainly about poor game plan execution (constantly bombing it to the loose backline), and yes, i'm not one to jump up and down about umps, but they were deplorable last night. But we are going to have a mixed bag this year and thats just par for the course with such a young team.

As Much as Mick Malthouse $hits me, ill have to use one of his quotes: In AFL, things are never as good or never as bad as they seem...

Listened to Lecras interview on the radio after the game, he stated that he loved watching teams kicking it in long and high to their forwards as he thought McGovern and Yeo would always read it better in the air than opposition forwards.
Pity we didn't realise this and stop doing it,

I reckon if people interrogated B Hill's kicking the way they do Cam Sutcliffe's, he'd cop it on this board.

Sutcliffe runs all day, and we need that at the moment. Part of the reason we had to bomb it in last night was because we had no links in the midfield chain to hold the ball a bit longer. You don't want Sutcliffe being the last guy holding it, but we need run, and with S Hill out and a pedestrian backline, I don't know where else you're going to get it.

That's a very fair point Morgan - on the kicking comparison.

Thing is Sutcliffe is moving a ball out of the last line of defence and Brad Hill is kicking further away from goals.

Sutcliffe would be a ripper on a half fwd flank or on the ball.

Where is Sheridan playing at the moment? If it's half back, I'd prefer to see Crozier back there, then bring Sutcliffe in.

Agree that we need to run Crozier off half back, a much better option down there than Sheridan.

Balic was pretty good for only his third game wasn't he.. just looking at matchups Sam Collins looks a perfect matchup for Cale Hooker.. I reckon Ibbo might be under pressure.. yeah leave spurr alone, I reckon he is playing quite good..
Ibbo out for Collins and Johnson can play as a spare or roll off player like ibbo has been

I'm hoping that Roly persists with Ethan Hughes. I reckon he's a goer. As is Logue. I really like Logue. In a couple of years Logue will eat Yeo for breakfast and make McGovern look like a hack.

And while I'm happy to drop Ibbo, not for Collins. Ibbo plays until (if ever) Alex Pearce comes back or we re-structure our backline some other way.

I watched the Peel game on TV and at that level Suttie was hitting his targets. Whether that can translate to the bigs is another thing.

Yep, Crozier of the half back line is a good thing. He has an excellent kick, freo have to find a way to get the ball in his hands.

Ibbo is constantly played on larger opposition and gets out muscled, Logue should have played on Darling the entire game with ibbo on josh hill. IMHO Ibbo gets set up to fail by the match selection panel.

I think theres a fair bit in the fact that we have tended to play midfielders as backman, and i reckon Sutcliffe and Sheriden have both suffered for this.
Sheriden is not up to it, and needs to go back and develop skills and poise. Think there is faint hope in him achieving this after 6 yrs in the list, so he should be first traded at the end of year.
I think Sutcliffe has got some life left, but not in the backline. I'd put him on a wing, and let either of the Hills do more in the mddle.
Crozier is a through and through natural forward flanker, and thats where he should be. Hes just got to learn to work through flat spots and get himself involved. Always been his problem, and somehow hes got to learn to play through close checking. Again, hes been on the list long enough for him to learn this....

Before we get into Sutcliffe, Sheridan, Crozier etc, what's happened to Nick Suban. The coaching staff needs to put him through the ringer and see if he's capable of staying on the list. Together with Sutcliffe and Sheridan, they played in the 2013 GF. Can they be resurrected.
