For those alluding to the inferiority complex regarding the umps, it was unlikely we were going to win this one anyway. But the umps can deflate a team badly if you know you're getting pineappled.

WC have a decent backline and Kennedy would walk into any team as FF. Darling is a bad kicking decoy. Mitchell is a cheating scumbag who the umps love with a passion. The only way to beat WC is to stifle their run with pressure.

We didn't apply much pressure, turned it over badly, and our forward forays were crap. But without the umps ripping the chance of a contest out of the game in the first, we'd have lost by less.

I had the misfortune of being at the game...
The first quarter killed us, from all angles. We were 5 paces behind them and clumsy in our tackles, couldn't hold a mark and went back to bombing the pill into the forward line with our eyes closed.
The second half we held our own despite some baffling decisions from the maggots.

However, the thing I noticed more than anything was it was like a morgue in there.
They were 6 goals up in the first qtr ffs and you could hear a pin drop.
They have to be the weirdest, most moronic supporters I've ever come across to say the least.
And they suck. All of them.

It sounded like a morgue on TV as well, devoid of atmosphere. Our crowd has been pretty manic of late so I'm putting it down to our players being bored.

As carp as we played and as insane as the umpiring was, keeping Hamling on Kennedy after he'd kicked 3 or 4 without so much as a chopped arm was pretty silly. If you're not going to play Collins you have to swing Logue onto him early to see what he can do. You have to have the ability to switch your key backs when it's not working. If he has no effect after 10 minutes, go back to Hamling. Instead Logue finally went to him in the fourth and was competitive. His height, strength and athleticism means he is always competitive in the contest. He just hasn't learnt how to get to contests from off the ball. So get him involved and put him in the firing line.

Don't bring Sutcliffe back. If he's getting 35 possessions in the WAFL it surely means he's playing in the midfield which he won't be at AFL level. He'll be back in defence butchering the ball (see Sheridan's little bit of icing on the cake last night). Time to look at Ryan.

I rang my brother-in-law and mentioned who was umpiring .
He said are you whingeing about the umpires before the game ?
I said yes I am having a pre game whinge , I hope I am wrong but I think it is going to be bad for us . I wish I was mistaken .
A few years ago the fish umpired against us and the frees were 28 to the Dogs and 4 free kicks to us ( we won by 8 goals) I cant remember who the other umps were .
The fish personally gave 12 free against and 1 for us , the 1 was to Ballas for getting smashed after tacking a mark . He got 40m . I think it was in the last quarter .

Freo played poorly and were smashed by the umpires, especially in the first quarter. The slime were on fire.

The last 3 quarters were basically even.

Therefore, slime are poop, we have massive upside.
