May as well put in my two bobs worth.
Hill is a huge loss, probably our MVP at the moment. I honestly think we would win the Derby if he was playing. Now its anyones.
I think I would play Pearce. Hes the closest to Hill in some aspects and can just be dropped again when Hilly is back without changing team dynamics much.

Kersten no way to be dropped for Tabs, he has improved each week, has won some crucial marking contests and one on ones, and importantly really keeps his cool looks before he disposes and his decision making is good. He is the recruit that has surprised me on the upside the most. Except for one instance where he and CamMac got in each others way in the pocket on the weekend, they are really developing some chemistry, not like Tabs/Clarke/Griff smashing Pavlich all day. Not sure he will be prolific but he is much more productive than say, Mayney was.

Balic I really like the look of too, reminds me of SPP, got the physique and speed, just not quite as developed yet as Powell Pepper. Balic if fit should come in, probably for Ethan Hughes who I think has been slightly passed by Tucker. Hughes can come back in in a few weeks.

The interesting one is who goes out for Ballas later on, assuming Hilly and Balic are fit?? Possibly the T Train Tommy Sheridan who is still a fringe player for mine, albeit these have been his best games. Cant see a role for Sutcliffe or Tabs just at the moment.

CamMac; anyone else notice how high his ball drop was? I always thought he was a great kick and his inaccuracy at the moment is purely rust but when I saw him drop the ball from about chest height and that bizzare swaggering run up Im not so sure now. Hopefully Im wrong on this. Otherwise he is better than I thought. Such good speed from standing for a key forward. Hardly been beaten in a contest. Bleeds purple, see ball get ball, have a shot. Hungry as hell like all great forwards, Roly will hopefully get him to occasionally centre to a better position but everything to like so far.

People calling for Sutcliffe to come back in? Did none of you see what happened to the team when he went out? Sheridan is the yin to his yang except he has pace so isn't a complete dead loss. We need to maintain speed around the ball so it has to be D Pearce in or Taberner comes in and we shift players around so Langdon and/or Weller spend more time on the midfield (preferably opposite wing to B Hill).

S Hill has been our best player this season pretty convincingly and replacing him is no easy task. Sutcliffe is no chance at doing Hill's role and Weller is the only person from the back half who could step in and be comparable. I'd prefer Weller stayed down back rebounding though as he doesn't have the instinct of the older players to immediately look backwards and sideways yet. It means better and quicker movement out of the backline while he's there so no Sutcliffe.

I could almost see Tabs coming in and maybe Crozier or Grey getting some more mid time but that'd leave us too tall with Logue pushing forward too.

Balic would be handy if he was fit to give a kid a go but he'd play a different role to Hill and someone else would have to step up.

I reckon D Pearce is the easy like for like move. Hopefully a few weeks out and being at the end of his career sparks him to really go hard and show what he can do. I'm predicting Danyle to come in and play a blinder.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

McCarthy's ball drop is like Taylor Walker's. It starts high but is usually effective. It is natural but at the same time probably adds 5-10 metres in length to the kick.

Just extrapolating a little bit, is there any chance that the AwFL would consider switching the derby to the MCG this weekend, given that a large crowd will want to attend the game, and Melbourne's public transport system has had the benefit of 2 practice runs this year on how to deal with a mass exodus of patrons from the 'G at 3/4 time.

I agree with you Rhufus. His ball drop is terrible I think. I'll be proven wrong but he'll be a 50/50 kick at most. No doubt he can roost it, but theres no way he'll be a consistent and straight kick with that ball drop. In his approach ball is wobbling above his left leg, then right, then left....all over the shop!! There is no way there can be a consistent ball drop with that action, so theres no way there's consistently straight kicking.
Having said that, he'll probably (& hopefully) kick 7 straight this week!! I Like his endeavour, like his presence, like the fact hes clunking them.
He'll be good value, but theres a couple of technical things to sort out, I reckon.....
...and a better haircut!!
