Travis Kings picks a reasonable side to play the bulldogs

Yep, I pretty much agreed with all his changes, the only thing I would change is to swap Weller with crozier, Weller's pressure is needed in the forward line while crozier showed he plays well down back as an intercept marker.

Yeah, probably a good side, and with Crozier and Weller - mix it up if it ain't clicking. Crozier knows where the big sticks are, as does young Lachie. Tabs is still learning the ruck, but he possibly does offer more than Griff.
My guess: no changes, at best one - and it won't be ZacD.

Well it's a start. I think T. King is spot on with his selection.
At least it will give us a chance to see what we have rather than watching the have-beens.
The kids will show a lot more endeavour and you never know, there might even be a star amongst them.

If this team is picked, I will have a reason to go to the game this week.

Last year, when we put the cue in the rack after the Carlton loss, was the year the 'kids' should've been given an opportunity. This year the experimentation has to yield results - that is, an improvement on 4 wins. Sheridan isn't a kid - he's been with us for 6 seasons (that is, for 3 years longer than the average AwFL career). If you look at Peel, only Leroy Jetta would be great to get into the side.

I agree with some of the changes, but I would keep Johnno in defence - you have to, Logue isn't going to rise to the occasion because he can't. Our problems aren't coming from the age of the playing group at all, that's a furphy that only those fools in their spacious offices in Cockburn would accept.

I disagree with you Polly, Johnson is the past and Logue is the future.

Thanks to all the players that have given so much to the club, it's time to get out the way of the next gen and let them play/ learn at AFL level.

The players like Johnson ,Pearce, Griffen,Suban,Ibbotson Dawson and even Mundy should be replaced with Logue, Balic, Tabenar, Grey, Hughes, Collins, and Crozier.

Even the two new recruits , Luke Ryan and Cox should be looked at , if the pieces aren't working in certain spots on the field try moving them around and experimenting with them .

That's what I as a fan want to see now , use this year to work out what we have , where they play best and what we need to draft to fill in the blanks.

Put a bunch of kids on the park and get them to play blind man's Rolyball, and they'll get smashed every weekend. Not really a way to build confidence or a cohesive team. We've got a shedload of experience out there, and confidence is already nil.

There is an issue with putting in a bunch of kids and then getting clobbered. There needs to be a bit of evolution of the structure and on field leadership.

The flaw in that drubbing is that what we are dishing up at the moment isn't even Roly ball.

But giving a couple of fresh 19 and 20 year olds itching to play games at the top level who are prepared to have a crack at it rather than the servicemen going through the motions because roly is too loyal to them and they think the can just cruise will probably give them a wake up call they need as well.

How many floggings did the bulldogs and the giants endure before they started dishing out the floggings? The important thing is they still had experience on the park, we still have the likes of Mundy Fyfe, Sandilands Neale Spurr, Hill x 2, Walters who are experienced campaigners who can provide some leadership.

That article was so lazy, I was shocked it didn’t have Hagdon or Walls in the by-line. It is basically a list of Peel players with a question mark at the end.

There are real and valid reasons that those blokes are at Peel, and Travis King couldn’t be bothered interrogating any of them.

You're right Morgan, but I still would make most of those changes. Johnno is carrying an injury of some sort, back related it looks like. He can not even bend down to pick the ball up below his knees. Sheridan is of no value whatsoever, but the rest do offer enthusiasm and potential. I would prefer to give them a chance now rather than wait til round 18, when the whole playing group is not even going to be attempting to go through the motions.

Collins is worth a crack, but to say he is a ready-made replacement for Dawson isn’t correct. Dawson for his many faults rarely gets a bag kicked on him. That can’t be said for Collins, and I’m not sure he’s a shut-down defender. I have a suspicion that I could beat him on a lead. He’s Leigh Brown Mk 2. But hey, our best bet might be to let Cloke mark the ball and miss shots, so it could be a sneakily good idea.

As for Logue, not many 18 year old KPP players play much in their first season for a reason. Getting manhandled and embarrassed doesn’t do much for one’s development or confidence. Young mids you can play on the periphery while they grow into themselves and learn the game. There’s no such grace for bigs, and the size discrepancy is more pronounced.

Balic faces the same hurdle that Michie and Barlow have previously faced – we’ve got enough players who can win the ball and butcher it forward. Game time to him means less time in the middle for Fyfe, Mundy, Neale. It’s the one part of the game we’re good at, so I’m not sure you mess with that in a team already being embarrassed.

Replacing Sutcliffe for Sheridan is deckchairs stuff.

Johnno doesn't look himself. Is he working his way back, or is he cooked? I don't know, but I reckon a servant of the club like him deserves better than to be glibly dismissed after round 2.

There are worse ideas than putting Crozier in the backline. Not sure why we went away from that.

Polly, I agree with most of the things you say but saying Logue cant play is simply wrong IMO.
He is not ready to play yet even though he will debut this week but surely you can see the positives in him??
Personally I think he will be a great player for the club and with an ounce of luck be a 250 gamer..

Sure, I see plenty of upside in Logue. But a player that takes three quarters to get into a WAFL game isn't saving himself for the bigs. Grey, Hughes and Balic are ready to go, but I don't reckon Griff #2 is.
