The game plan is flawed, not the players, Ross's "take the grass" mantra is far too easy to defend against, opposition players don't even need to man up on is because they know all they have to do is defend the grass. If the only grass they give us is behind us they know we'll take that option every time, so it's very easy to let us hem ourselves into the back pocket and the be forced to kick to a contest. There was a classic example of this on the weekend where we won a free kick on left (camera side) center wing and 4 perfect kicks later had ended up in our right back pocket with the man with the ball against the behind post and with nowhere to go except down the line to conest on the boundary line, this was the moment I realised we were doomed. All the players executed the game plan perfectly and we were in a position where giving up the goal was inevitable.
So if I hear one more person blame the players for the predicament we are in, my head is going to explode.
A Pearce, Bennell, or Buddy Franklin won't make one iota of difference if the coach can't see the error of his "system" and correct it.
