Do you say it is not the players, it's the coach?
We have some very good players, the nucleus of which took us to top 4 for three years in a row. But that team is gone for good.
They turned over the list last year but it is shocking to see good players like Walters, the Hill bros, Mundy, Neale, Johnson, et al. playing so poorly. Seeing Neale getting caught holding the ball in front of goal was heartbreaking.
If you take the EPL as an example, Chelsea are back on top, Leicester have now won 4 in a row and Crystal Palace & Swansea are out of relegation after changing coaches. While Arsenal are clearly not competitive under their coach of 20 years.
Someone else posted that Lyon is like Mick Malthouse and the game has gone past him. When you make no changes to a side that is belted by 7 goals and the result is a 13 goal belting, something is wrong.
I'm not sure who the next coach in waiting is, but Alcock and the Board better start making some phone calls.
