After reading and thinking about this I reckon it's pretty spot on. Unfortunately it does,t paint a very good picture for us though imo.
Mid age players- Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Tabener, Apeness. 50 game applies here. Don't see any upside coming.
Pearce looks promising if he can ever stay fit.
Crozier looked really good in the second half of last year off half back but for some reason Roly thought better of playing him there again this year and now can't get a game. Not sure what role he is playing at Peel.

Younger players-Weller, Tucker, Langdon, Blakely, Collins, Balic. Out of this lot I feel Langdon looks like a goer, Blakely is hard working in and under and Balic is playing well at Peel but unknown quantity at AFL. Collins deserves a go but we continue to play Dawson.

Even younger as in this years draft, nothing that makes you excited about what's to come. A lot of long term projects or good WAFL players.

So for all those midfielders we decided to draft because they were the best picks in that particular draft, besides Neale we really didn't get much.
The thought that we actually have a good list that could challenge for finals again even this year is starting to fade for me.

It certainly has some merit, Corporal, and it puts a lot of things into context re: Dockers rebuilding. Especially when its used i conjunction with Parko's measure of "A Graders / B graders". I'd be interested in this forum's views on who in the squad "IS" an A-grader, and who "POTENTIALLY IS"?? I think there's a heck of a lot of B's and C's.

It makes for grim contemplation, to say the least.

In a sense, there's not a lot to get us excited in the current squad, especially in the big man department(Rucks/forwards/Backs). Our deficiencies here are extremely worrying. In short, a successful rebuild is only going to occur with what is coming, not from what we've got. And then its gonna take 50 games to see if our recruiters have nailed it.!?!

That's why I reckon he's "going to the well again". Its the only way forward, and as a consequence, I think we are going to spend a whole lot of this year deliberately going backwards. !

There is no getting away from the fact that we have lost elite key position A grade players that carried the team when we were in Premiership contention but are now either past their best (Sandi/Johnno/Mundy ) or gone (Pav/Luke) and we have no like for like replacements. Fyfe and Neale are A graders but who is next on the list and what do we have to look forward to (Logue maybe?)
Sutcliffe/Sheridan/Crozier et al are not going to set this team on fire.
We need Morabito/Bennell types and some quality KPP to bridge the gap but I don't see them coming through the ranks.

No PP. some successes - Fyfe/Neale, and some serviceable contributors but not enough elite A graders.
Plus the game has changed. At our best we were an intense pressure team, especially in the forward half. But that's taxing and difficult to maintain as shown by Ballas and Maynes decline. Furthermore, the game is now about speed of ball movement and skilful disposal, neither of which are our strong suit.
Finally, gIven that we are in a rebuild phase it's hard to see where the talent is going to come from when we have just played two games with the third oldest team list in the comp.

Neale is the kind of A grader you need when you have a midfield with four or five other Double-A's.

He's serviceable as a top-3-in-a-team mid. He'd be a great 6th or 7th, spending major time as a roving forward.

We are done. Feeble. Bereft. Unwatchable.

Worst of all, near unsupportable.

The only way out is to become a tackling machine, and even this would only be 50% better.

My club sucks!

I reckon you can't draft that many crabs. It's against the odds.

You have to wonder about Lyon's ability to develop a team. He's never done it before. Performances since Round 10 2015 have been pretty ordinary. And now he's twice failed to prepare his team to play at AFL standard.

Sam Powell-Pepper's game against us was outstanding. We are not used to seeing an 18 year old step in to the arena and perform like that. Round 1 Rising Star nomination; Round 2 the coach and the team have the confidence to swing him into a midfield role.

Which means....How good is Griffin Logue going to be? Obviously our recruiters saw of lot of Powell-Pepper playing WAFL last year and on balance thought that Griffin Logue was a better player, hence they took Logue at pick 7 and left Powell-Pepper to the others.

Or...our recruiters made another clanger.

Or perhaps they thought they had too many(average)midfielders already? Dunno, but he reminds me of Ollie Wines who also stepped straight into AFL in his first year. We never seem to draft any ready to go players.
