You criticised the subterfuge allegations and tried to obscure it with some bizarre claim of malpractice, which is something only mentioned by you.

Being contrary is one thing but making up stuff to oppose is just an attempt to cloud the issue.

Now how about you stop dissembling and address the obvious disconnect between the published facts and Roly's comments and then tell me that people shouldn't be questioning the apparent gulf. In my view, people have every right to question it.

Are you saying that's not suggesting incompetence on the part of Freo's professional medical / fitness team? My point is that there is that there is some guesswork in a calf injury of this nature. There's no indication the medical / fitness staff have done anything wrong.

Lyon's words: "You can just go in and give it some treatment. I don't know exactly what they do but under ultrasound they can give it an injection and (it) just frees it up. It certainly won't delay him at all on his potential return, so he'll just be backed off for a day or so but he'll run again later this week and get moving again."

There's only a disconnect if you think Lyon is lying or making this up. I don't know what incentive he has to do this. It sounds like he's just relaying what he was told.

I am taking Lyon at his literal word. That's almost the opposite of contrarianism.

Yeti, it's not a direct conversation, and I wasn't replying to you. Your post merely proceeded mine by a couple of minutes on a discussion board. Check the time stamp - it takes me more than 2 mins for me to check for typos and add smugness, let alone knock out an that entire post.

If you want a direct conversation we should set up a podcast where for an hour a week we argue about everything. It would be the most unpleasant hour in the podcast universe, but it might save Shane some time deciding how long he lets us bicker before deleting posts.

I think that some of the frustration around Bennell is that it seems to be a common scenario being played out in a number of areas around the club at present.
We have a few players that we have all pinned high hopes and expectations on that for various reasons not been able to deliver, Morabito, Sylvia and now Bennell.
I have watched our onfield performance meander along the same path with very little indication of improved performance since about round 9 2015. Skills are simply below standard required. Besides Neale and Fyfe no real talent has blasted onto the scene. Without thinking too deeply about it Fantasia at pick 55 for Essendon and Caleb Daniels from the Bulldogs for example. So far we have good prospects under deliver and very few unexpected prospects deliver more than we expected.
Supporters are looking for the delivery of something we can pin our hat on to say we can see the direction. At the present there is very little evidence that improvement is around the corner. I have not given up that this could emerge this year, it is way to early to call. I already have my doubts.
Still I am glad to follow our team than teams such as Carlton, Melbourne, Gold Coast St Kilda teams that have struggled for years to get the formula right.

This is the most pedantic thread I've ever read. Calf injuries are very hard to treat if they're chronic, and Bennell's had his for a year or two. Ross is obviously hoping upon hope that he'll be OK, because Bennell is probably our only chance of kicking competitive scores this year. I've known a number of sportsmen with calf injuries and they haven't done well. All the evidence thus far suggests Bennell is unlikely to play this year, but hopefully he will. The sad part is that Ross sounds more like Damian Drum every day.
