My thoughts (on one of televisions most dire footy games, as entertaining as watching your dog sleep):
Leroy was always a smart footballer, he looks really good at this level - a cut above the rest - there's no substitute for a lightening fast brain that computes how to get something done that seems impossible. I thought our best player (aside from Leroy) was Brady Grey - he was full of agro yesterday, chase/tackle and composed off the boot. Strnadnica looked especially good - up forward, back and in the ruck - good mobility and spotting space in evolving play. He kept a cool head and did what needed doing when everyone else was spacking out around him - out of all our picks last year, he seems to be the best.
Collins was good with his intercept marking, Hughes was very good coming out of the defensive zone, but Logue drifted in/out (and I was a bit disappointed with his desire to get involved in contests). He seems to be more interested in staying healthy/clean than anything else - harsh, but that was my impression. On the other hand, Hodor looks the goods - he's picked up some good ruck positioning and gets into position well in contested marking contests - but (admittedly) is a developing project. I don't think Crozier looked very good; Sheridan worried me every time he had the ball; why Suban keeps falling on the ball and holding it underneath his body remains one of footy's greatest mysteries. Cox seems good, Duman clearly has a solid dose of the footy smarts - the rest I couldn't comment on.
On the other side - Francis Watson was fantastic. Now there's a real footy talent, two or three levels above anyone else on his team, but should've slotted that goal when given the chance. I'd draft him in a second.
