Following on from what Jonno said, re Ballas slipping on re-laid turf.

What was the condition of the surface like? It was recently re-laid turf following the Adele concet. What about the large chunk of turf which separated when Sandilands went to ground later in the game? It had not taken root with the ground underneath at all. From aerial shots on the TV the surface looked like Grandma's patchwork quilt.

Always find it interesting that AFL sides are very wary or won't play on a number of city or country ovals during pre season but will play on major grounds in worse condition.
