Meant to mention before, one of my favourite moments was the expression of joy and celebration at the end of the game.
I know it was only a pre-season game and some people will say they over celebrated a per-season win, but I can't remember the players outwardly express pure enjoyment of the game for some time.

It was because they knew if we lost that preseason game we'd finish bottom four

Having seen the highlights, it appears we do have the makings of a forward line.

I inadvertently saw the write up in the Sunday rag and it looked balanced and fairly positive. So we must have been nothing short of sensational.

Michael Walters will take some time to adjust to having Brad Hill in the side. Walters didn't know what to do when the ball kicked at his chest.

Griff's looking fitter than he has been for two or three years.
This is good. It's very good.

Simply don't get the responses and even the title of this thread. Some posters here have such a negative mindset they fail to see any positives. Thoroughly enjoyed watching our team on Saturday. Thought our effort was terrific. Our forward line is a work in progress, but geez there is a lot to like for a team rebuilding. The system is set up so that a team is bucking the odds if they don't spend three years outside the final 8 in a decade. Im still going to love supporting the team, even if we do have a rebuilding period. No doubt plenty here would enjoy supporting Freo more if they took a break from the extreme and logically absurd negativity that is the dominant view here.

The view is that Roly's game plan is out of date. What I saw on Sat is that the coach has developed Rolyball 2. Evidence suggests it'll be very competitive. There were mitigating circumstances to the lost in Gero. Of course the detractors went to town, with the worst predicting doom and gloom. What stood out for me though is Jonathan Griffin. No coincidence that David Hale, our forward line coach has impacted his style of play. Griffin has always been a good shot for goal. Injuries aside, he'll add 1-2 goals to our score on a weekly basis, which is what Hale used to do at Hawthorn during their 3-peat. Yep I think Rolyball 2 deserved some credit after the win albeit a pre-season game.

Jezza, the thing that excited me about Griff, was the fact that he seemed to have the confidence in his knee, and his mobility around the contest. For the first time since his knee recon, he was attacking the contest without any hesitation, and this may mean either he plays ,and plays forward more as a resting ruckman rather than from the bench, or that Sandi goes forward more. All of a sudden the knee problems of Zac Clarke don't seem to be so much of a worry.

Brad Hill IS a jet, and will add a couple of goals a game per forward. That makes us top 4 material.

Definitely pleased with the win, and the original heading was about our inaccuracy not our win-loss ratio.

Bit surprised about the top 4 prediction after one good showing though RM. Who do you se as the only three sides finishing above us?

Top 4 of the bottom half I believe is what RM is trying to say.
We will be fighting it out against Collingwood, Richmond, the Deaf Cheats and the Cows for a berth in the "desperate onlookers based on mathematical possibilities box seat".
But then, Mickey B might just conjure a magical win or two for the other more likeable Coast, so 13th it is.
Nah. we've got a dearth of gun midfielders who will all find form simultaneously under the towering figure of 211. It's all good...so, 10th at a pinch.

It's a big ask to go from a 4 win season to making finals. Though the budgies won the spoon in 2010 and made top 4 the following year. Questions needed to be asked how that happened but we digress. Roly's finals record is unquestionable. So 2016 being an outlier, I'm punting on the boys to making the 8. Like every side, injuries will play a major factor.

Can we not post predictions based on our best 22 this year?

i) No one can agree who's in it anyway....
ii) No side field their best every week
iii) KPPs need to be fit - and in form, consistently
iii) Any team is only as good as the 2nd tier and depth players it has.

Take a look at Freo's 2nd stringers and fill ins, and make predictions based on that.
