Today was definitely a significant improvement from last week
Hamling looked awesome today. His intercept marking was terrific today. McCarthy improved and it is unrealistic to think it won't take him while to find his feet. Tucker, Weller, Langdon and Blakely contributed well. Our forward line is a work in progress but don't get the insane negativity beating a team not far from their best.
The Mayne pick for Brad Hill trade will go down as an awesome win for us no doubt.

I think B Hill could be a handy back up player in the mids if we get 6 or 7 season ending injuries. o)

Same old same old - ZeD
We can't win a premiership with only 17 players on the park. How does ZeD keep getting a game?

I've just checked his stats while with the Dockers. He is currently averaging 2.4 kicks per game, which is essentially negated by his 2.4 clangers per game. Throw in a -0.9 free kick differential and you could imagine the opposition hoping he gets picked!
I'm sure he's a nice bloke but the game is being played a another level.

Why would you keep giving him a game in front of Collins or Logue?

Im pretty sure most of the Dawson haters actually were not at the game. He was actually bloody good on Moore who only kicked a goal when Hamling was matched up on him. Dawson in the negating role freed up both Johnson and Hamling to attack, which they did brilliantly. Last week showed how much we need to have a negating player to play on gun forwards. Hamling is definitely more suited to using his pace to run off a man the role he played on Kennedy in the Gero game.

i agree with you damien, zac definitely has his moments, but sometimes he had to cover two players while hamling left his man.for good reason.though when alex and collins get back, who moves out.
he does not get too many goals kicked on him,but i still cringe when he cannot get the handpasss away real quick
but i thought the game plan has definitley changed, much more attacking across the ground and nowhere near as defensive as uaual.
bradley hill was very very good what a difference he made and will make.dont recall him missing a target and quick..
sandi will relish the no third man up,and it looks like he will go forward a lot too.
mundy looked like he enjoyed being back in the midfield.mcarthy was warming up to it as it went along.turnovers nowwhere as bad ,they smothered our disposals a lot creating 3 goals.some stupid turnovers cost us at least 3 goals.
overall i'm pretty happy with what i saw.
ross was ross as usual after the game, though he did mention fyfey stuffed up with his delivery and cost us.he was not alone, dont think he should have singled him out though.

Sitting out on the outer in 37deg heat watching the game, would have been a great punishment for any cause. But having to do that voluntarily wasn't very smart. So when you factor in that and these boys playing for that duration, I'm not surprised at some of the errors. These lads are supreme athletes and that goes for both teams. What's not to like after that game.

I admit to not being at yesterday's game but I've seen most of his home games since he arrived from the Saints, hence the reference to career stats. If we have a four year plan, shirley he won't be part of the end result- he's not going to improve like a fine wine.

Better but skills and decision making will hurt more against better teams.
Hamling showed that his disposal is better than our other backline options, will be good. McCarthy looks like he plays like a natural forward hope he can continue to improve as he adjusts to playing senior football. Kersten wasn't great and only played half a game but got injured putting his body on the line. Brad Hill was very good looks like may add more than Mayne,
Of the older guys. D Pearce chased and worked as hard as I have seen him in a long time (I have been critical of him). Sandilands makes a massive difference, would be nice if he was umpired like Mason Cox, Griffen showed more than he has in recent history. Walters is amazing and gets a rough trot from umpires, he needs to realise this and stop exaggerating the infringement, maybe then he will get the free kick. Lyon was correct Fyfe's disposal was ordinary. I love Stephen Hill. Mundy was getting back to what he does best. Michael Johnson looked more at home, Dawson will finally meet his end as the season unfolds.
We need everybody fit to be competitive. So much hinges on a player yet to play for us, Bennell. He will with Walters, Weller and the two Hills bring the pace and skill needed.
At least there are things to be positive about this week.
