When was Pav made captain? Was he 24 or 25 when he took over from Bell. If Fyfe is going to be captain it has to be 2017. He's our best, a Brownlow medalist and he'll carry the team on his back when times are tough. He's got another 10 years in the game and like Shane said, no need to have another vote after this.

Fyfe's commitment to the club was never more evident than Brownlow night 2015. In his acceptance speech, he's words were, "I bleed purple", amongst other words he spoke on a memorable night. Let's not forget Pav, Mundy and more recently Neale, knocked back offers to stay at Freo even though they showed no commitment to stay until they signed. Free agency has just given players a bargainig chip they didn't have before. We move to the ETAF on Monday 19 Feb, the start of a new era with a new Captain to take us to the promise land.

Unfortunately, a player who declares life allegiance to a club might as well be saying "...and take 15% of my paycheck."

Those days are over. Players are able to make a lot of money over career that won't last too long. If they don't consider that they might end up at another club, or that they will have life after football with likely lower earnings, they are probably too thick to play afl and we probably don't want them. Even if they bleed purple it may (sadly) not be very financially astute to not drop a hint or two about other options.
