I happen to be a tribal supporter who wants the Freo dockers to be a Freo team - so, for me, it's a crap outcome. If you are a Cockburn ratepayer who doesn't mind supporting a bankrupt economy, or if you have a win at all costs mentality, or if you think size is everything, it's probably a great outcome (and you may also think that Trump is doing a wonderful job)

There will always be the nay sayers who puts a spin on something wonderful. When RL signed till 2020, I imagined that there was a plan laid out to get the best talent and the best facility at his disposal. He's still regarded as the best coach Freo have had. And with that we've got 4 years to achieve our dream. No doubt many would disagree and many have lost patience with how it has transpired. But to the masses, the move to Cockburn will coincide with Freo's emergence as a power club. There's no more excuses.

Jezza, let me put it another way, without giving too much away, I was involved in some of the original planning around the Freo redevelopment. One thing I learnt very early on was not to believe anything that was said from certain Docker's spokesmen. City of Fremantle was shafted good and proper (some of it their own doing). I can't tell you how much my skin crawled when I repeatedly heard that the Docker's first three preferences for redevelopment were "at Fremantle, at Fremantle and at Fremantle", while knowing that the horse had already bolted and they were on thheir way to Cockburn. The snake oil salesmen had already moved on.
Sometimes I just prefer a less shiny outcome while still being able to keep my integrity. If that is "nay saying" then so be it.

Freo are full of plans. None of them have delivered much as yet. The idea Lyon is one of the best coaches in the country is still conceptual IMO.

He failed with a plan to win a GF with Rolyball with a team that has one of the highest travel burdens. His strategies have been worked out by every team in the comp, and a team that was as tight as a drum in 2013, completely unravelled two seasons later. Now he has to do what he's never done before, and that's build a team from scratch around some key talent, and adapt his coaching and playing strategy, and still make it a winning one.

The idea an ETAF helps with that, is tenuous as best. The idea it will lure quality players is marketing at its purest. For the players the facility will be like a new car; it's got a great smell and feel for a while, and it makes you feel good about getting in and being seen with it. After a while, it's just a car.

WTB, I respect your views and in no way I'm here to downplay what the City of Fremantle has done for FFC. I've worked in the area for the last 15 years and on many occasions have witnessed training sessions there. Politics aside, the FFC have grown up. And when you grow up, your needs get bigger and you get hungrier. We are now not just a club for boys. While the Freo admin and City of Fremantle continue their stouch, what matters are the Freo faithfuls who dares to dream. As for Roly, had we kicked straight in 2013, Rolyball would have been hailed a success. Underestimate the man at your peril. We derailed in 2016 but the tracks are fixed now. I've bought my ticket and I'm on that train.

As I'm a perennial fence sitter, I see both sides of the argument Jezza and WTB. I feel as gutted as WTB that Freo is moving out of Freo. I know I will never visit the Cockburn training facility and watch the team train as I have done because it's not in my area and the place I love but I also see Jezza's point re the council and the incentive needed to given to bring back players and so on but I'm so sad we've moved and I'm not sure how it's going to affect my support which has been through thick and thin. Last comment on Ross the boss, if Milne's kick had broken the right way he would have had 2 premierships. It's a fickle world!

We're getting slightly off track here. I'm not clear how the CARC is related to RoLy or alleged sex offenders but each to their own.
Just a quick clarification to my earlier comment. The "club growing up" doesn't justify the club behaving like a spoilt corporate entity. We already have a "club" up the road that have that approach covered.
I don't mind the product we have ended up with as a facility but I do have a problem with any suggestion that the end justifies the means. There seems to be a lot of that in today's business world. I'd prefer to associate with people who believe that the means are just as important as the end.
