This is a $109M investment that's going to served the community and FFC unbelievably well. If this ETAF doesn't bring home our young WA players, then nothing will. And that's why I think Fyfe will sign and be a one club player, whether he's captain or not. Also the new playing surface at the site, IMO, will see players with less soft tissue injuries during their training sessions. And yes, I believe the Fremantle Oval is hard on legs, given the volume of running these players are subjected to.

It's a big stretch to suggest a training facility in Cockburn (even an excellent one) will pull players back home. So I'm not surprised rosich is spruiking it.

What is more likely to get quality players here is money, and not be on first name terms with the staff at every airport in the country.

Has there been any talk or complaints by players about Fremantle Oval being too hard? I don't think SF, who use the oval even more than we do, had any issues with it or an unusual amount of injuries.
Perhaps it could be partly due to our supposedly elite conditioning and medical staff then?

Yup, if I was a footy kid looking for a good career the waterside would seal the deal. Actually, if I was a seal it would too.

But I hope they feed it with better water than the kid's hospital or the Queen's funpark in the city - poisoning kids maybe ok for Barney, but you can't have an oasis in the industrial wasteland coming up short for the footballers.

In regard to player complaints about the hardness of the oval there has been plenty.
Paul Hasleby said on air it was like training on concrete. Adam McPhee said at a training session that his only problem coming back to WA was that he would have to train on the hardest surface in the aflJeff Framer said the same thing to mate off mine.
I know some South Freo players through my job. They too complain about the hardness of the surface and think it has played a role in injuries.

The surface is a significant issue. Glad we are moving.

If that's the case, why have they wasted some much money on medical and conditioning and rehab blokes, when it would have been cheaper to strip the oval and returf it?

And don't tell Morabito. He'll be putting in a workers comp claim and damages for lost earnings.
