TOPIC: Surprise, Surprise, A Recurring Injury

Apparently young Alex Pearce has broken his recovering leg again during rehab link. At what point do heads start to roll or is it now just accepted that anyone who is injured will be continually injuring themselves for the foreseeable future? It's beyond a joke and not good enough at this level.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Six weeks in a cast and did it in a running session! A running session for chrisakes. Sounds great for the future. What happens when he actually gets into any physical work?

You could elevate someone off the rookie list now with the amount of time he'll be out.

That whole California Dreaming thing with Fyfe was obviously a pile of new age baloney. But, I agree with Biz - time to give away those lead-pipe-leg-whacking sessions in training, someone was always going to get hurt.

Why all the gloom. It's only Jan 2017. You're going to get injured and sometimes re-injured. This is sport. It didn't stop the Dogs last year. They had a horrid run with injuries to their stars. We've recruited well. This year the talent goes much deeper. I expect more injuries before Rd.1 but you've got to get the work into you or what's the point. Plenty of upside DL, now is not the time to spit the dummy. Besides it's the new year.

So it's Logue to cover the loss of Pearce.

Johnson to cover the loss of...Johnson, McPharlin, Duffield, Mzungu, Silvagni, Morabito and a pair of pants.

Who's to cover for the retention of Dawson?

A lesson to all those who continue to predict our fortunes based on playing our best 22. It never happens. That's the reality for all teams in the AFL. Judge teams based on their ability to cover for injuries and look at players ranked 20-30 and then you get a better picture of the future.

That's a good gauge WTB, as seen with the Bulldogs last year, ( it feels good to consign 2016 to the "last year" basket at last) and the Hawks for the previous 3 or 4, it is the players in this group who can make or break your season when the guns are injured or need a rest.

Real bad luck for Alex, I hope it's nothing long term.

Collins went well last year under immense pressure and I think he'll be better this year. Him along with our recruits....the backline should be fine without Alex, but better with him in.

Collins started ok as a loose man, but when forced to play on an actual real-life key forward repeatedly had bags kicked on him.

Our backline is still in reasonable shape. Hamling for the tall blokes, The Lounge for the fast blokes, Collins for the tall, slow, rubbish blokes, and Johnno as the loose man. And if Hamling or Collins suck, Dawson to come in and suck in a more consistent way.

Hopefully A Pearce will be back for the finals run to make sure Dawson can put his feet up in September.

Morgan, Morgan, where have you been this pre-season??? Zac Dawson is the fittest he has ever been, training the house down, doing PB's for the time trials and looking to cement a spot in the midfield!!!

NO WAY will he be filling in for injured backmen this year.
