A 17 year old draftee isn't in a suitable position to negotiate a contract. They arrive at an AFL club and everything is awesome, it's more money than they've ever seen and they can't even imagine what they'll e doing in a week, let alone three years. They are in the prime position for their manager and their club to exploit them. We've seen it happen with several of the GWS and Gold Coast players.
