From a moral and ethical standpoint Steve Rosich shouldn't be going for the money, but if you look at it from a purely business point of view it is equally stupid. In the same way that a move to Cockburn will have some direct economic benefit but will sever more financially lucrative ties with Fremantle, he is blinded by the $4m without factoring in the economic value of goodwill from the hardcore fans and Fremantle Council, not to mention the lost memberships due to negative word of mouth.

Again, from a moral and ethical standpoint, trashing your core is a disgrace, but from a business perspective, it is insanity. I think the move to Cockburn will later be seen as the biggest mistake this club has ever made. If we played our games in Freo, who cares where we train? But we don't (I haven't got an issue with the new stadium by the way). The only link to Freo is our training base. To now pursue the council for a few mill on top of the Cockburn disaster is just negligent.

We'll be fine as a club and I'll keep supporting us, although not with the passion I once had, but we'll be losing countless millions over the coming decades due to decisions made in the last 5 years.

Our club's greatest asset was its connection to place and the current regime has destroyed it.

I take it, Corporal, that you were referring to the Classic Full-dummy, with knob, third from left, top row when referring to Rosich. Good fit!! I can't believe the gall of the guy.

Yeah, I guess their goal is to have me not care so much about the footy. First Ross coaches boring footy. Then the club leaves Freo. And they are run by knobs. What more could I ask?

Football clubs are almost always run by knobs. You just hope it's a knob you can get behind.

I'm hoping Dale Alcock is that knob.

I'm sure Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood, St Kilda fans et al. aren't fussed their suburb doesn't host their club on a daily basis any more.

But they'd be pretty pissed if their club asked for $4M to leave.

To quote Chris Lewis from his article: 'Dockers people have told us the initial $10m demand was just an ambit claim to rattle the council...'

I can only think of one club's membership that would actually get amused by their admin crapping in their own nest - and they're based just up the road. You've got to be a real arsehole to even contemplate 'rattling' your hosts (and patron of a great many years). Fremantle Council stood up when it counted the most - time after time - and they made our membership proud of who we are. They deserve to be treated fairly and with respect.

Stating that he's a class-A knobber is being diplomatic. If there's anyone out there that is 'proud' of what Steve is doing, perhaps it's time to bugger off back home to Nissy and his mates - and take that wanker of a CEO with you (good riddance).

I'm not privy to the business dealings between our Club and the Freo council. So my opinion is based on the media article and others who are perhaps more knowledgeable about the dealings. Asking for money to move out of a rented premises is jaw dropping. For the council to have backed the FFC in its hour of need is admirable. But being a member who is desperate for success, if moving to the ETAF can help us win a premiership then surely it's a good thing. And if it's going to make our team
a powerhouse in the next decade, I don't really care about the stouch between Freo's admin and the council. Though I'll missed the times popping down to the oval during my downtime whilst at work.

Rosich is fond of saying that the Dockers would always retain a presence at Freo Oval. My guess is that presence will be the stink of bad faith - an up-yours present but not seen.

Oh, and a Team Store.

My guess is that the presence he's thinking off is to sublet the building.

Possibly its on the club balance sheet valued at 6 million , so if they get nothing then the financial report will read 6 million dollar loss. Media would have fun with that.

Moving to Cockburn ain't going to get us any closer to a premiership Jezza.

Without wanting to be too precious, I can't imagine the playing group getting much job satisfaction from spending most of their working time there. Much like St Kilda at Seaford.

Plus sharing the facilities with the common people and the mozzies.

The FFC is now also home to our inaugural women's team. So facilities need to also cater for the girls who'll be wearing the purple proudly. At Freo, this was not going to happen without a massive redevelopment project. As far as providing our players with better facilities, you'd be foolish not to see the rewards of that on the footy field. As far as sharing the mossies and the public to our new facilities, these players are well remunerated to put up with external factors. I say bring on the ETAF.

The correct comparison isn't between the old facilities at Freo Oval and the new facilities in Cockburn, it's between the proposed new facilities at Freo Oval and new facilities in Cockburn.

Docker Admin decided to build new facilities at Cockburn. The main reasons being that they could squeeze more money out of the ratepayers of Cockburn and various Government coffers. From a footballing sense, my recollection is that the only benefit to moving to Cockburn was that we could have a second oval that was the shape of the MCG. At the time witches hats could have done the same thing, but now that Burswood will be MCG size that really is a moot point.

So, by all means celebrate a new EFAT at Cockburn, but you're really just celebrating the club mooching off taxpayers at the expense of keeping the club in Freo.

Now, even if you take the mercenary approach of moving the training base and admin staff to Cockburn, Freo Admin could have bought into the whole Freo Oval community thing and worked with the Freo Council. Move East and South Freo to the ground, help build a big new clubroom for members of all three Freo teams, and embrace Freo Oval as the Dockers' spiritual home by having the odd open training session there and all their community events.

But instead they have tried to stick it to the Freo Council. It's completely self-defeating.
