From a moral and ethical standpoint Steve Rosich shouldn't be going for the money, but if you look at it from a purely business point of view it is equally stupid. In the same way that a move to Cockburn will have some direct economic benefit but will sever more financially lucrative ties with Fremantle, he is blinded by the $4m without factoring in the economic value of goodwill from the hardcore fans and Fremantle Council, not to mention the lost memberships due to negative word of mouth.
Again, from a moral and ethical standpoint, trashing your core is a disgrace, but from a business perspective, it is insanity. I think the move to Cockburn will later be seen as the biggest mistake this club has ever made. If we played our games in Freo, who cares where we train? But we don't (I haven't got an issue with the new stadium by the way). The only link to Freo is our training base. To now pursue the council for a few mill on top of the Cockburn disaster is just negligent.
We'll be fine as a club and I'll keep supporting us, although not with the passion I once had, but we'll be losing countless millions over the coming decades due to decisions made in the last 5 years.
Our club's greatest asset was its connection to place and the current regime has destroyed it.
