OK - I watched the video again. His disposal under 30 metres was perfect, a very good short passer. He won a number of contested marks and could evade tackles, so some more ticks.

It was his kicking out of the backline over 50 metres that concerned me, either in play, or after a mark or a behind. He just blazed away to clear the ball. Sutcliffe et al. did it all year and the opposition just kicked it back over their head for a score.

He's a pick 66 and competing with Lee Spurr for a spot. If he plays as many games for Freo as Lee, I'll be rapt for him. I'm guessing he'll play under 50.

Not sure about that Davo, to me the first guy he reminded me of is Steven Hill, albeit a right footer. Steven Hill in the back line that is, not Steven Hill bouncing down the wing.

Luke Ryan was one of the best kicks outside the AFL system in 2016. His kicking efficiency was 86% which is insane and he kicks long regularly too. Ive seen him play and he has decent speed too. Most experts had him between 20 - 40. Duffield's replacement. Actually he is a cross between Spurr (with his marking) and Duffield. Great get in my view.

Well given Lee Spurr was actually a rookie selection being pick 66 in the regular draft aint that bad. But Spurr is more of a G'n'D type player, Ryan seems more finesse.

Couple of things in that vision. Good by hand and in traffic, great overhead. Went consistently long down the line to his ruckman out of defence as his main long option. Ran on through the lines consistently when in play. 0% vision of a tackle. He was like a wingman playing in the back pocket.

Blocker has summed him up pretty well. A lot of good news about his offensive side but lacking a little on the defensive and physical side. Hopefully he can build that part of the game but it's not something Sutcliffe or Sheridan are good at so he'd be a good replacement for either one in any case.
