CA I agree with you on Clement and Medhurst, it was a mistake to delist both, my point being we have delisted very few players who have gone on to be champs somewhere else. We have traded a few but that is a different story. As for Croad and White, "never were a part of Freo" as in they never wanted to be at Freo and acted and played like it.

Medhurst was traded when he was the second small forward behind Jeff Farmer. I was sorry to see him go, but Farmer was clearly number one and we lacked size up forward.

Clement was one who got away. He played under Neesham and Drum and, tellingly, said he hadn't been coached until he got to Collingwood.

I wouldn't classify any of those as recent examples though. Most of those happen in the early growing pains of the club as it struggled to find a way on the field. Most teams who flounder for a number of years will find it hard to have hit the right notes player retention, trading and identifying where the issues are between player capacity and development. Brisvegas and Melbourne are a couple of examples, St Kilda way back when too.
