Logue is athletic, quick and can shut down space deceptively fast in his role as a key defender. He doesn't play purely as a lock-down backman, however, with a strong intent to provide some run and to help out others by floating across packs to fly for his grabs. Logue has a background in rowing and has impressed at senior level in the WAFL competition for Swan Districts.

Would suit: There'll be plenty of takers out there for an athletic key defender. His stocks will benefit from being able to add some offensive drive rather than only focusing on being a lockdown player.

We could have had him in the late teens and we waste pick 7 on him? Our trade and recruiting team are a shambles. Keep pick 3 and get a bonafide star like SPS or Mcluggage or trade into the teens and get some real value with multiple picks but no, let's throw away our chance at a decent rebuild.

Maybe this time round they didn't go with 'best available' and decided with Johnno's problems and an aging and not very good ZD we may need more backup in backline. With our recruiting of forwards they may feel Apeness will revert to backup ruck. Who knows we can only wonder!

I don't agree McCarthy is a dud but you're right in that he was never going anywhere but Freo and all we did was rob ourselves of an absolute gun in SPS or McLuggage. Stupid trading and we'll be paying the price for many years to come.

Poor drafting not to get good value out of our pick if our sights were on Logue. GWS could have easily coughed up two picks in the teens and we could have had two of Logue/English/SPP/Berry/Battle. Or maybe get GWS to throw in a player and we'd take the one pick in the teens for Logue. Poor trading at least.

Or we could have had another Jeff White that wants to bugger off back home as soon as he could. Its a gamble, just like Bennell (and Mora) have been. I see Logue as a potential McGovern, who could play either end of the ground. Good pick in my book.
