Great. We've just appointed someone with experience going backwards. Haven't we got enough of this on the current coaching panel?

Well Shane, that article explains why he needed a new job. He also knows exactly how we all feel - it all looked so promising, and then turned to dust...

Hale, Guerra and Rock are only new to the coaching caper, so let's spend $200k on some ex-rowing coach to help them improve.

And while we're at it, let's just move deckchairs on the Titanic by giving them all different jobs to do next year.

I didn't pick it up in the article, but does he have any experience in marine salvage?

I dunno. When you start hiring coaches for your coaches, perhaps you hired the wrong coaches?

A potential cracker. Now we need to get the slime to agree to doing the next derby in whale boats slugging it out to Rottnest and back.

The original job ad basically was corporate speak for ...

Ross is a bad communicator, Ross is not good at man management and showing empathy to Gen Ys but we love his approach to strategy.

We need someone who can translate what he means to the other coaches and the players, and make the players feel part of something ... Like Kirky did.

Hope this is the guy ... hope our attempts to be new age and cast the net wide don't backfire. Personally Barlow or De Boer would have been better options

Oh dear 391 that description is a bit like Pav's description of Harvs.

Maybe de Boer gettig chopped was all a misunderstanding. It was a bad connection from Canada and Morris said to Bondy - I don't know much about football but from when you're rowing the first thing you do is drop the oar.

In any season there are 10 or so coaches and probably a whole bunch of part time specialist coaches, video analysts, stats guys and medical and fitness staff. We've seen what happens at a club like Essendon when there aren't clear lines of authority and honest communication between the different segments of a football club.

Our ability to bring new playing talent through the door is limited by the draft and free agency. Our ability to bring new coaches through the door is limited by who we are capable of recruiting in the offseason. In both instances, from about November each year, we can't really add new players / coaches to the mix. So attempting to maximise the coaches ability to communicate with each other and the players in any given year (until deficiencies can be addressed in the next offseason) seems like a good idea.

It also seems like a good idea that the person responsible isn't Lyon or Bond.
