Well, as far as I am aware, he was offered a 2-year contract extension, which he rejected and asked to be traded..but when there were no takers, it appears that Sydney has also decided that they didn't want him anymore and subsequently delisted him. On the surface, it does appear that it has less to do with his playing ability, and more to do with Sydney not wanting a player who doesn't want to be there...he did ask to be traded to a Melbourne-based team, so we are unlikely to ever get him, but much like pollyanna, I thought he was quite serviceable for the Swans (except for the GF, of course) towards the later half of the year..
