Using my advanced powers of foresight I predict the following: we'll play West Coast twice, and there will be a lot of complaining about how little Collingwood have to travel.

I predict that people will whinge that we have to travel to another state almost every second week whilst teams that are based in a state with several other teams will only have to travel every fourth week.

And Trevor Nisbett will say how tough the fixture is for the Eagles and Rosich will say how happy he is with Fremantle's fixture.

Freo's only game at the G will be against the Dees. The AFL have already pencilled in a monetary loss for the game, and will take it out of Freo's coffers to prop up the strugglers that season.

We will play Geelong at Simonds Stadium in the final match of the season. In the past 2 seasons Freo have played the same team in the first and final games.

You're all aiming too low

The AFL commission will deviate from its normal treatment and fixturing of teams that finish in the bottom six and schedule more games for Fremantle against teams that finished higher in 2016.

"The AFL has always maintained this policy as a guide only and with Freo's injuries in 2016 we didn't believe their ladder position was a true reflection of their form. We have adjusted the fixture accordingly" [insert name of AFL spokesperson]

Mind you they can only schedule at the most 4 games against teams that finished lower than us on the ladder. That does tie their hands a bit, and open the gate for the conspiracy theorists among us.

Do we choose to play in Tassie? Or do we get sent there by the afl? Genuine question. We seem to go every year and get relentlessly thrashed. I would have thought by now we would have made it pretty clear to the afl that was the one game we desperately didn't want. And it never seems to do draw much of a crowd so why wouldn't they play two Melbourne clubs there?
Anyway that is the one fixture that has me stumped.

Well we don't play in Darwin. Melbourne's 2 games next year in Darwin are against Adelaide and Gold Coast.
I'm hoping we get 6 games in Melbourne with 3 at the MCG.
That leaves 4 more interstate games. 1 in Sydney, 1 in Queensland and 2 in Adelaide.
The Easter long weekend looks like an away game for us so a game in Melbourne would be good for an interstate footy trip.
