We all know and have seen Zac’s deficiencies. The problem is he is in our backline and those deficiencies are magnified especially when they result in a goal. Its easy to bag Zac, he’s been the scape goat for years, but he does a job. He is 6ft5 and takes the oppositions best forward more often than not. Bagging him out sounds to me like the same supporters shouting "kick the bloody thing” when there are no options downfield. His best work is off the ball, he reads the flight very well and is great at getting a forward off the line or creating a good block. In fact I would say he is outstanding in this area. He also chooses the right time to come off his man to spoil. These one percenters are ignored or not even seen by the Zac baggers. He is not a rebounding defender taking pack marks, he has limited ability to hit targets by hand or foot and his decision making is very dubious at times. He does however posses the golden fist. The clumsy but effective spoil, and the height and reach required to nullify the opposing team’s key goal kicker. Sure he may play a bit for Peel next year. Sure his bag of tricks is limited. But its a bit too easy to continually bag a player who, especially this year was far from the worst player going around.
