TOPIC: 12 out, who's in

After Mickey, I now have the count as 12 players either delisted, retired or moved. Plus we still have SCOS and Zac.

In, we have CamMac, Hill, Hamling and Kersten.

Need to take 4 draft picks and 4 rookies.

Personally, I think we've cut too far. We could have kept 1-2 players for depth.

Twelve out is about right for a team with an ageing list that won four games.

If we want to challenge for the top in a few years we are going to have to find some quality players amongst a bunch of potentials and get them up to speed. The more players we put through the system, the more likely we are to get enough guys who go on to become reliable elite performers. Sadly, this means ditching some much-beloved quality a bit before their use by dates.

A more conservative list management strategy will maintain a professional outfit that can win plenty of games but is unlikely to snatch the the big one. Take your pick. This year's trading says we aiming to peak in about 3 years.

Josh Green was delisted today by Brisbane. Might be worth a punt- good goalkicking average as a small forward and only 24.

Gee, they updated the player list on the website fast.

21,22,23,28,29 all gone, though 30 is still showing, and the new numberless faces.

My theory would be that these locker numbers all backed up against each other in one corner and had to be removed so that the changerooms could be downsized for extra office space.

Salty there are two ways of looking at it , Which is better a player who kicks goals in the worst inside 50 team in the comp or the player who kicks the same amount of goals with the the club leading the inside 50's?

The way I look at is that this confirms Brisvegas are going for Ainsworth in the draft which is on less pick ahead of us who might take SPS.

"No ginger policy", Mushroom?
How about remembering that this is (Z Dawson the exception) a non-discriminatory forum?

Silvagni's delisting brings the number of 'Outs' on our list to 9 Seniors (Pav, De Boer, Mzungu, Barlow, Grey, Silvagni, Hannath, C Pearce, Mayne) and 4 Rookies (Morabito, Smith, DeLuca, Hurley). Total 13.
'Ins' so far: 4 senior list players (McCarthy, B Hill, Kersten,Hamling). Net loss 9
FFC has indicated intention to take Grey, DeLuca as rookies. Net loss 7.
With picks 7, 35, 40, 71, 79, 97 and an indication that four or five will be drafted, plus 1 more rookie, it still leaves at least one place for the Pre-Season draft to establish total squad of 45 players (40 seniors + 5 rookies).
Taking five in the draft means we'll take pick 79 — is such a player likely to be as much value as keeping either Barlow or Silvagni on the list?
Have we ever seen such a large turnover anywhere in the club's history?

Delisting Barlow & SCOS to be replaced by players picked at 71 & 79 is just stupid, only reason I can think of they are trying to maximise salary cap space to offer Fyfe a truck load of cash to stay, we can roll over some of the cap $$ we don't spend in 2017 into 2018 so could offer him a big front ended contract.

It's the only real reason I can see for the decision as the likely hood of either of those picks lasting longer than Barlow or SCOS is pretty low.
