Ainsworth is another that has been touted as a worthy #1 pick this year, but his height might put off some. It wouldn't surprise me to see Brisvegas claim Ainsworth, especially given Green had requested a trade out if a deal could be done this trade period just gone.

Last Tuesday night, NITV broadcast the 2016 West Kimberly Grand Final between the Bidyandanga Emus vs the Looma Eagles. Lot of mixed ages, young and old and mixed shaped physiques, fat and skinny, but there was a lot of talent, especially the tall Emus defender who wasn't afraid to fly for his marks and saved his team a few times. Ex-AFL listed player Zephaniah Skinner played for the Eagles, but it was an exciting come from behind win in the 2nd half by the Emus.

Sorry guys I don't know how to insert a clicky thing here, Shane could you please help? It would appear that other people or clubs are not as hot on SPS as you are Biz. I know it is only an opinion piece but it is an opinion piece by the guy the AFL pay to have an opinion on the draft. I can only assume that he forms this opinion by watching a lot of junior football both training and playing but also talking to players and clubs throughout the year.
How he places the priorities for the club ahead of us in the draft
Brisbane
Ben Ainsworth, Will Brodie, Andrew McGrath and Jack Bowes
Carlton
Will Brodie, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Tim Taranto and Jack Scrimshaw
Essendon
Hugh McLuggage, Andrew McGrath, Will Brodie and Sam Petrevski-Seton
Gold Coast
Jack Bowes, Jack Scrimshaw Tim English Ben Ainsworth and Sam Petrevski-Seton
GWS
Andrew McGrath, Hugh McLuggage, Tim English and Ben Ainsworth
Fremantle
Sam Preteen-Seton, Tim Taranto, Tim English and Todd Marshall
I have watched a bit of the under 18's this year but nowhere near as much as yourself Biz and only a little last year and no Colts so my personal opinion doesn't carry a whole lot of weight but I am hopeful that we can secure SPS. In what I have watched though I haven't witnessed the huge gap that you speak of.
I disagree with you on this point, but like you really want to see us get SPS and have enjoyed reading your strong views over the last weeks, while also at times being infuriated by them, good job.

Is this just a ploy from Bizkit to challenge Morgan for his "most infuriating" crown?

We need an equivalent of The Doig for Dockerlanders.

I don't tend to agree as much with the AFL site opinion pieces as I do with a number of other respected phantom drafts. The AFL site is constantly changing their views and weighting their opinions on the latest influence far too strongly. For example after the draft combine a bunch of players shoot up their rankings or fall down them based on the results where in reality recruiters don't place a lot on those results and have their ideal picks already sorted.

They also need to have a changing draft order so they can pull in more views and pander to supporters. It tends to lead to people rising further or falling further than they should and SPS falls into the latter category. Similarly when there was talk about Marshall not getting included as a GWS academy kid he suddenly rose rapidly up the AFL opinion pieces to be a contender for the number 1 pick where most phantom drafts still had him around the 15-25 mark. He was never a number 1 consideration but the AFL site talked him up for a while based on the media attention he was getting.

I don't agree with a lot of the players potentially going to various clubs in that article.

For the record I'd take Ainsworth over Taranto for his speed and how well he disposes of the footy at full tilt. He operates on a different level to most players, going full pace at all times. He doesn't run clear, settle then dispose of the footy like most players, he is able to do it while going full pace and kick beautifully. He has shown glimpses in the middle but would be a great addition to our forwardline till he developed his mid game far enough.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Last year cal twomeys phantom draft was spot on for the top 15 selections then it trailed off in accuracy. I think that SPS will get through to pick 6 the way its going, I fear GC will pick him up there though. Interestingly last year twomey had Balic going at pick 17 to the saints, looks like a steal for us now his wrist is fixed.

Last year there was a pretty clear pecking order and most drafts had the start pretty much right. This season there's a more even spread of similar talent making it a bit more difficult to judge. It will be interesting to see how they all fall on draft day, especially with so few talented KPP's available.

I'd see Gold Coast as the biggest threat to taking Petrevski-Seton. Especially with those two picks before us.

Be interesting to see if either GWS or GC 'pass' on SPS or English? We did trades/pick swaps with them both and was there an 'understanding' that they wouldn't take our preferred target with their earlier picks?

Stranger things have happened...

Taranto is a kid that I've heard has got plenty of upside. Let's just say it's a family connection. Physically, he's just developed since he was 16. The bloodlines suggest he's got plenty of natural talent and an enormous amount of growth.
