I agree with Morgan, Tabs is the target we want up the ground for the kick to the centerline. He can find space up there very easily, and does kick the ball well to good spots inside 50. The sort of player many thought Zac C might turn out to be ( but didn't).

Yeti, its not a myth that Tabs drops marks all the time, I go to the game and watch him every second week do exactly that. We can quote the stats of how many marks he does take all you like but it doesnt change the fact he drops more than he should. Sometimes your eyes give you more info than the stat sheet.

Thats why I am still quite bullish on him. I also disagree with Morgan about Tabs positioning. I think he does everything right, except actually hang on to the ball. If he can start to do that, watch those marking stats actually go up with a bullet.

I think Morgan's right about Tabs - when watching him this year, he does seem to clunk a lot more marks up the ground where there is more space, less blocking, more one on one.

Pav I don't think he has really been given a good crack at rucking, probably because of his injury problems. That may be where the coaches are heading with him now, if he has overcome his injuries. Based on the recruiting this year they obviously don't rate him as a key forward over the next 5 years.

PP I would like to see Yarran played at FF as a Modra type of hard leading option. Play the talls as a stay at home target in the square.

I'd like to see a player do a full preseason and get a decent run of games under his belt before making any definitive judgements on whether they can make it or not.

Apeness just hasn't had that yet, so fingers crossed this is the year. I think the footy department has said on a number of occasions they definitely rate Apeness on what he's been able to show at training, but with injuries and still some developing to do they aren't going to put all their eggs in that one basket (yes I know).

Yarran is always good on the lead from FF, but in AFL this only happens when the ball is forward of centre or after a centre bounce.

Coming out of defence, small forwards are often forward of centre and leading is towards goal. This is where talls like Apeness, Sandi, McCarthy, Clarke, Tabs or Kersten need to mark a kick out of the backline.

Too often crabs like Enright, Shaw and McGovern took easy marks at HB without opponents and to add insult to injury were all awarded AA guernsys. A disgrace.
