Derby, read my posts and then stop misquoting me. Before you drag me out of context, try and get at least one argument right, or I'll get all giggly again.

Not once did I suggest they were a bunch of reserves or journeymen.

Plus, you're actually making some of my own points for me when I said most sides aren't chock full of talent. The fact NicNat made a AA side kind deflates the idea of the cream rising, don't it?

You know, you can fact check even the tiniest bits of trivia. Like Justin Langer hit 40 sixes in his 105 test match career. Is that enough to discount Morgan's previous post. Probably not. I won't be watching cricket this summer, but I'll probably check the scores from time to time.

Hey, let's not go bagging NicNat for his AA selection. He took a mark that year, you know.

Sarcasm aside, there are tonnes of factors that all affect a teams chance of ultimate success. If there was any one given winning formula, then don't you think every team would be doing it?

I'm many things, but I'm no cobbler, so I'll do no cobblering.

Almost everyone thought that the Bulldogs had an average list at the start of the year. Funny how things sometime turn out.

LOL, Gees everyone is toey and it's only a Wednesday in October,

Weather is warming up, roses are flowering, trades are being done when people suggested otherwise.

Cam Mc scored 35 goals in his last outing off 20 games and people are rating him as what? IMO he is a welcome addition at 21 and pretty handy. Lets call him a swap for Chris Mayne if you want to be a half empty glass.
I then Look at Hamling, Collins, A Pearce in a backline with support from some senior players and think hmmm that smells rosey.
The Boss must be licking his lips. Make no mistakes here, we are going back to defence first and rebound attack Roly ball style. Not pretty, but pretty effective if you put a forward line in front of it with people who can kick. We may have just got that.

If Lyon goes back to hardcore Rolyball, he's going to have to do it with less rotations than before. Perhaps he thinks the fresh young meat will be able to sustain it?

Or It could be calf city.

Look Polly, I'm a he/she! Yeti's player assessments are more in line with reality instead of mythically talking up our trades because they are new players and we ignore their flaws and only see the best.

Yes the Hawks and Swans have recruited good mature players. Were they rebuilding though or competing for a premiership?
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Just rewatched the last half of the GF, (talk about bored) just to watch this kid Hamling. Wasnt much to write home about in the half I watched. Two possessions, never played anywhere near Buddy and the only one on one I saw, Buddy was way too fast, marked and drilled it.
He did do one spoil, one uncontested mark, an accurate 30 m kick across to the fat side, thats all I saw.
VERY small sample size but I agree its funny how the post game sorta came out as he towelled up Buddy.

On Hill, my Dad and I always argue about who had the best Hill. My argument was that our Hill was an inside tough player who won his own ball and could play on the outside as well whereas Brad was an outside receiver only. Im happy we picked him up though as Premiership teams need at least one B Hill type.

Cam Mac kicked 35 goals or whatever in a team that plays the most scintilating fast forward attacking football in the AFL, (along with the Bullies and Hawks). To me that translates to less than 35 goals in a Roly Ball situation. Dockerlanders talking about 60 goals might be in for some disappointment. Hope not.

Im quietly excited for next year but then again I always am, just saying we might have to temper our expectations.

If we can pick up a star midfielder with pick 7, somehow jag it, I think that changes the whole equation. It will potentially allow Fyfe, who is already banged up with shoulders and legs, to go forward maybe not now but in a year or two when we are approaching our premiership window. Fyfe forward, if Bennell and Walters are fit and firing then our midfield and forward line becomes absolutely elite. Apparently we have so many mids we have to get rid of Barlow yet no one will consider sending Fyfe forward.

I have been quietly pushing that last point for a couple of years Rhuf, and I know how Biz feels, coz it seems like heresy to suggest we overcome our surplus of quality midfielders by playing a couple of the 6ft 6 types forward and back

I don't think I've really had a foot in either camp when it comes to 'where should Fyfe play'. Personally I think he's the best midfielder in the game and that's where he has the greatest impact so that's where he should be with stints pushing forward dragging smaller blokes he can leap over. I don't think him playing permanently on a KPD will work as well for him or Freo.

Agree with Biz on the use of Fyfe. You win a Brownlow as a midfield gun doesn't mean you should become a key forward. He is similar to Dangerfield, Kennedy and Bontempelli though in that he can have spells in the forward line and take some big grabs and kick a few goals, but not a full time key forward.

Fyfe doesn't play forward permanently because his best position for Freo is Ruck-Rover. So unless he's resting, don't play him there.

Well he played his junior footy I believe as a forward, played initially for Freo as a forward and I believe will end his career as a forward. I understand hes the best midfielder in the comp but I think he could also be the best forward in the comp. Lets face it , its not as if he would play only out of the goal square. He would still be involved in all the stoppages forward of the center square. By providing such a reliable target (in the air AND when it hits the ground) for the ball carriers his presence could completely change the way we move the football. Why wouldnt you now get the ball moving quickly and directly to Fyfes advantage. Good as Pav was, in the latter years he could be done once the ball hit the ground, especially as he was double teamed. They would need to triple team Fyfe and hed still be a chance.

My point also comes down to the fact of the way he plays, he just gets bashed up continuously. I think he either needs to change the way he plays, stop so much the bash and crash and play more intelligently or we have to step in and protect him. He has mentioned that he is going to try and change the way he plays but Im not sure he is going to be able to, its just inbuilt and clubs are targeting him. Reminds me of Daniel Kerr and his career was cut short with joint problems.

Also apparently he is about two inches taller now, which im not sure I believe but if true this would add some more credence to the play Fyfe as a forward argument.

Lastly, with the reduced interchanges, it would allow Fyfe to stay on the ground the whole game which might balance up any perceived negatives from taking him out of the midfield.
