TOPIC: Griffin Logue

Mic Ablett just picked Griffin Logue in a little mock draft, Tim English was available but he picked Griffin Logue.. I thought it might be a bit of a stretch at this pick but it does make sense.. He is the player off half back that we need.. I also didn't know that he is related to the Wildcats legend Andrew Vlahov.

So he should be handy in the pre season basketball cross training then.

I'm pleased that everyone is exercising restraint by not using the descriptor 'boofhead' still - well done everyone.

So, Logue at pick 7; then what? It depends on which players are available, but midfielders such as Zac Fisher and Matt Guelfi, Subiaco's Liam Ryan could repace Shane Yarran if he becomes unavailable due to his current legal issue; a defender such as Josh Rotham could fall Freo's way, and I would like to see someone like Darcy Cameron picked as cover should Sandi be injured, and the form of Jon Griffin or Zac Clarke not warrant selection

I like Logue, then Fisher 2nd round.
Let's keep the mateship : brotherhood thing going on being these 2 are great mates and this has been the theme with Hamling / Kersten and the Hill brothers reuniting.

Logue could be the safest bet....not the best but safest

Logue isn't a pick 7, that's a big stretch and there will be better players available than an athletic third tall defender.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

MMMMM Fyfe wasn't a Pick 7 either, some smart-aleck took a huge risk on him at Pick 20, and got verrrry lucky.

Raglan there is a bit more pressure on our recruiting staff at pick 7. Especially when we have downgraded from pick 3. Fyfe at pick 20 wasn't a risk.

The risk would be if the best available wasn't picked up at No 7. Many have suggested that players in the top 10 will turn out to be stars. Well for our sake lets hope he is. In fact lets hope pick 35 and 40 are absolute gems because we've had better luck with later picks than we have ones in the top 10.

Bozza thats easily said now in hindsight.
In fact it was a huge gamble.
The senior coach wanted to pick Ryan Bastinac and most of the list management team was with him.
The Fyfe pick was very risky and was the straw that broke the camels back with the relationship between the club and the recruiting manager.
It cost him his job. He could have taken the safe option but he didnt.

Picking Will Brodie this year might be good insurance if Fyfe decides to leave.. He is that big bodied mid that can form a pretty good combination with Conor Blakely.. Mundy is coming towards the twilight of his career and can start to play off half back too.

Yeah I disagree Demo. Pick 20 is hardly an early pick. You hope to get a decent player but reality is there is no guarantee. I suppose every player has some risk attached if you look close enough. I just think there is a bit more pressure on our recruiting staff to get it right this time around considering where we finished and how we have downgraded our selection. Time will tell.
