There’s been a bit of speculation on 6PR with Hackdorn and callers about the mooted Ballas trade to the Weagles. Long story short, the Hack claims that Ballas wanted a trade to the Weagles, but since it didn’t go through, a caller has raked the Hack over hot coals about spreading misinformation. It turns out, at least confirmed by the Weagles, that Ballas indeed sought a trade, but couldn’t be accommodated partly because of the Sam Mitchell trade. So, looks like Ballas did attempt to leave Freo, but is with us for 2017. But if he isn’t re-signed, does he become a free agent which means if he leaves, we don’t get a trade for him, just a compo pick?
