TOPIC: Claremont vs Peel

I went along today to see for my own eyes a few players live in the seconds :

Mora - has clearly lost interest - hardly tried, dont let stats fool you - went through the motions and has obviously been told he wont be on the list next year - sad really
Subes - seriously bad. Got most of his possessions when the game wasnt in the balance and kicking is terrible. Is running like an old hack - 25yo in a 32yo body - has to go
Muzz - Tried hard, ran hard, prob BOG for me but what more would you expect from him?
Ethan Hughes - classy, worthy of more game time
Zac Clarke - still lazy and more knee bandages than an olympic showjumper
Collins - strong defensively, marshalls the backline but not playing on much. Does the same job regardless of opposition really
Deluca - real bad - was getting sledged by Claremont players regularly so I expect a leak there about his future.
Hannath - log, gone surely
Balic - good first senior game, ungamely kick style, runs hard to good spots, decent size, good tank.
Tanner Smith - once again I will write about him - not sure why he is on a afl list?
Nhyuis - competes well
The real surprise - Griffin OMG - so bad. he looks in real trouble. Struggling big time, slow and uncompetitive
Anyone thinking of drafting Bootsma - needs to go and see him live. Another great Carlton pick - zero chance and drifting..

One thing that was glaringly obvious was the only thing that separates the WAFL players and the AFL players in most instances is opportunity.
We tend to look at the positives for guys on AFL lists and the negatives in guys on WAFL lists.
Most of the boys playing for Claremont today would look just as promising in a Peel jumper incl Darcy Cameron.
It amazes me that part time players can not only complete but beat guys on AFL lists for over five years and says something about our lack of development.

Rossco may be right - four years at least!

Wow. I thought they won.

So we are losing or cutting 13 so far. I hope they understand the requirement to replace every player that goes. They know that. Don't they?

Well Hypen, after a favourable breeze in the first qtr it was 5 goals all for the rest of the game and Cl was clearly a better side.
They are set to finish 7th and we, at a guess, had 500 games of AFL experience out there...
We are in trouble

One media report on the game say Tanner Smith went off with a hammy before quarter time, while the other just implies that he kicked two goals in the first quarter before going off.

Did he have a look-a-like filling in for him for the rest of the game to be so woeful?

I must admit chewy - I did notice late in the game I hadnt seen him for a while so maybe my assessment was a bit harsh.
He was out there in the 2nd qtr though so not sure what happened with him.
Hopefully not bad enough to keep him out of finals action.

yeah on and off alot...I would say he played at least 70-80% though.
he was still running hard in the last qtr so that was impressive given his pre season

What about Taberner? The media report on the Freo team say he was omitted, did he play or has he been held back for today?

My guess is you won't be getting the gig on the club website giving the updates on the form of our WAFL players Demo.
Real, shame if that is the case with Mora. I have still been hoping for our own Menzel Cinderella story.

The club report on players in Peel games are indecipherable gibberish. 'Filled central corridor with effect', 'enthusiastic in forward fifty' type of rubbish.
Thanks for the report Demo. I think we all kind of knew we were stuffed but it's good to have some actual confirmation. There is a myriad of wafl players better than what we have on our list. Do you have any that you think particularly stood out this year? Darcy Cameron? I have heard Keitel from west perth is very good. Bolton from Claremont?

On a positive note
Last draft Tucker,Balic,Collins and Yarran considering we traded for Bennell seems like a reasonable crop
One before Weller, Blakely and Langdon also no bad either
Considering our ladder position and lack of tall forwards available....we did OK?

Raglan Matt - he didnt play so maybe held over for today??

The real low point for me was a high ball deep into Cl forward line and Zac Clarke, Mora and Sam Collins all flew for the same ball and no Claremont player went up.
Cl smalls got front and square and had a quick snap on goal.
I didnt even see the runner come out after that one...

Goodie there is many players in the WAFL system that could do a Barlow IMO.
Tropiano from Perth just needs an opportunity, Marlon Pickett from SF could be a star, Mason Shaw, def Darcy Cameron and a few others I cant recall at the moment that have left me scratching my head at times this year and last.
Im more excited about the colts this year, Tim English (clear best), Sam Powell-Pepper, Zac Fisher from Perth, Shai Bolton SF, Quinton Narkle Perth, Griffin Logue from SD, Tim Strnadica EF, Jeremy Goddard Cl and Aidan Clarke SD..
I really hope we focus on WA talent this year. They have the ability to be a 2016 draft dynasty for the club.

Winter - Yeah I think we have done quite well although a tall would have been handy.
Jake Lever anyone?
