OK so lets spit ball a little here. If Fyfe were to throw down some kind of ridiculous ultimatum to the team/management at Freo and Freo called his bluff, if I were a decision maker at Freo I would immediately initiate the following. Contact the Melbourne footy club and say "hey do you want Fyfe? If so give us Jesse Hogan and your first two picks this season or first pick this season and next season, either way we want Hogan and two worthwhile picks."
This deal would secure us the best young KPP forward going around, picks could be added to tradeable players to get Lobb and Hill to the club. It would still allow us to keep pick 3 for Seton-Petrovski or English and allow us to play hardball with GWS for Cam-Mac. If Ballas still wants out (I think contract extension is the issue rather than a fight with Fyfe) then we look at trading him to WCE if they are interested and take something from their backline or their midfield.
I think from young Balich, Langdon, Weller and Darcy Tucker we have the ability to cover the loss of Fyfe. Losing a Marque player does not finish a club. Everyone predicted the Crows would go backwards at a rate of knots this year lacking drive from Dangerfield, the opposite has been true, same with Buddy at the Hawks.
Like I said I am just theorising but if, and I personally think it is a pretty big if, one player is creating rifts and trouble within a team then it needs to be fixed one way or another.

Have you seen Fyfe play?
He is pretty good.

Oh you mean ALL of those players cover for him at the same time. Might work.

I'm thinking of a power rangers type situation with Tucker sitting on Langdon and Balic's shoulders and Weller on top of Tucker as they combine to form a single footballer that might compete with Fyfe. I still reckon Fyfe would float in front and take the mark.

These rumours are stupid, don't buy into them.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I reckon the media saw Fyfe and Clarke having a moment, and with everything else going on, put 2 and 2 together and got 42.

How has Freo gone in 2016 without a fit in form Fyfe on the field?
Somehow, I don't think Fyfe's off-field manners is the cause of Freo's current problems.

I have strong beliefs that in many years to come, Fyfe will be recognised as one of the greatest players, leaders, captains and coaches within the AFL arena. In one of the earlier games in which Connor Blakely played, Blakely was struggling early on. His second half of football was excellent. He attributed that to half time talks with his mentor Fyfe.

I struggle with just how easily us Docker supporters are so quick to be critical of what could end up being our greatest ever player. This is Tall Poppy Syndrome gone wild. I expect it from the WA Media, but why our supporters feel a need to contribute to it, bewilders me.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

All this talk about Fyfe reminds me of Michael Jordan; highly demanding, pushed his teammates to do better, was often puzzled how/why some players did not reach his fanatical level of wanting to win and he certainly put some players off side even in the championship run(s). MJ is widely recognised as basketball's greatest of all time. Just sayn'.

I remember being 24 once. This will come as no surprise to regular posters, but I was a bit of a know-it-all; and that was without a Brownlow and movie-star good looks! Fyfe has achieved a lot in a short time, has big aspirations, and might struggle with the fact that other people have different abilities and motivations to him. Maybe he rubs people up the wrong way - he strikes me as a bit insufferable at the moment - but it's in his interests to learn how to get the best out of other players, and in it's in other players' interest to play on a football team with Nat Fyfe in it.

We suck. People are bound to be grumpy. They'll figure it out.

Settle down DK I did say I was speculating and if you open your peepers and read what I actually said you would also see that I think this is highly unlikely. All I am saying is, IIFFFF Fyfe was to go rogue, note his decision not the clubs, we would be stupid not to maximise any trade value he has. Getting 5 or six very good players as the result of a trade for 1 excellent player is not a bad deal. Particularly when you can fix your forward and ruck shortcomings for the next ten years in that same trade. In Lobb you get a 25 plus goal kicking Mobile ruckman, in Hogan you get a future Coleman medallist, Cam Mac gives an added x factor to the forward line, Brad hill is a proven big game player with outside pace and excellent ball skills, Petrovski could be anything as a midfielder, and English by all accounts will be an excellent ruckman. Fyfe is a great player but he cant Ruck the ball, gather the ball and then kick it to himself in the forward line. If we can do our deals get most of those players and keep Fyfe then that is the best outcome for Freo. lets remember though, after being the captain of a Grand final winning team everyone was certain Judd was going nowhere, that is until he did.

Being a leader isn't about being the most popular and talented bloke in the team. Often a good leader will be relentlessly demanding. Would everyone prefer that Fyfe told Clarke he was doing great? Cos virtually no one here has ever thought that.

Teams have spats, especially when things aren't going well. It's only the media that plants the seeds that's it's terminal.

How do we know that Fyfe and Clarke weren't talking about hair styles and Clarke just flatly refused to get rid of the Afro? How do we know they weren't discussing which was better the 1971 Phase 3 or the A9X Torana? We don't it's just the spin the media have put on what looks like a disagreement, when off camera Ross may have called Clarke away from Fyfe to have a word.

Pretty sure I saw him doing that against Geelong Rd 2 last year.

The trick is to have several strong minded players who disagree, but work constructively together. If Fyfe sees something and wants to push the point, good on him. But equally, if another player sees it differently, he should say so. Does anyone imagine that Hodge, Lewis and Mitchell are shrinking violets? How did the Scott brothers take advice in their playing days? Or Barry Hall?

No, if we want to be the big boys, our players have to dish it out and take it.

It appears Fyfe has been asked to do some 'coaching' and being a young bloke he's still learning about man management and providing coaching etc. It doesn't surprise me that no one at FFC central didn't check if he was capable of doing that or required some guidance.

They've dropped him in it, and it sounds like it's turned to carp. Happens in workplaces all the time for the same reasons.

Hearing Ballantyne on commercial radio this morning and the Channel Nine interview last night, my speculation is that Ballantyne's manager had a beer/coffee with a certain media Hack and the chat led one thing to another in the journo's mind. The journo will be laughing now because his speculative story has grown legs of its own, Damien Barrett has picked it up on Footy Classified and made it into something, the other local media have given it more legs than a centipede and contributors to this forum have fed the centipede lots of cabbage leaves for further the media's further digestion and disgorgement.
Ballantyne made pretty clear that none of this was his direct doing. 'My manager gets a bit antsy ...' (or words to that effect); 'I just want to play my best footy ....' (or words to that effect); 'I am a contracted player.' He also said how much he appreciates the passion of the Freo faithful.
In the meantime, the Fremantle Football Club employs a media liaison manager. If this were a government department, the media liaison person would be all over the issue, working with management to find the 'message' that you want to put out and having everyone briefed on it and sticking to the line. My sense is that the Club has been sitting there watching the action, just like all of us. Not good enough.
