To be a good leader, you need to have a vision for the organisation you are leading, and you need the drive and courage to turn that vision into a reality. Harris had a vision for the Fremantle Dockers. In his words, 'there needed to be more to the Dockers than just Fremantle'. What I suspect he meant was that he wanted Fremantle to be more like West Coast.
So, he had a vision. And he also had the drive and courage to make that vision a reality. On that score, he has been an effective leader, and has shaped the club in his time as President. He and his colleagues would no doubt feel that his Presidency has been very successful.
And I would agree with them, but for the fact I completely disagree with Harris' vision for the club, and therefore I have disagreed with almost every key decision he, the Board, and the CEO have made in their time at the club. But, as he has made clear in many interviews, he doesn't care what people like me think, so there's no point going on about it.
So, I would merely say, Mr Harris, thanks for your hard work, good luck in your future endeavours, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Now, lets all go about trying to get our club back. There's a fair bit of work to do.
