These observations are all correct about Shuey...... but irrelevant.
What I dont see is a concerted training regime to achieve two goals. One, to receive more frees, the second to give away less frees.
We can all complain about unconcious bias, which I agree may be there to a small degree but the real reason we are always on the bottom of the free kick differential is the way we play the game. Not only on field but off field.
There are a dozen ways we could have improved our free kick count, subtle measures like highlighting all the Sandilands arm chops or more blatant tactics like sending Mikey Walters out with a motorcycle helmet on.
Seriously we give away too many stupid free kicks, dont get back off the mark quick enough, kick into the man on the mark, give away 50s, the list goes on. I get the mantra of anywhere anytime no complaints but there comes a time when the footy dept need to highlight some of the discrepancies.
I believe there is a tangible reason the Eagles are always near the top and we are always at the bottom of the free kick differential and I blame Fremantle.
