Where do I start?
Barlow, Blakely, Mundy, Neale, Bennell and two X Hills is a fairly decent midfield. Barlow isn't going anywhere.
Fyfe, Yarran, Taberner, Walters, Apeness, McCarthy, Lobb is none too shabby either.
The holes are still bigger bodies in defence to replace Elvis and run out of defence a la generallisiimo finger pointer extraordinaire First Jonno re TGTI Roger, and in the ruck. Lobb covers that gap too, Apeness also.
So, preseason of weights and running for: Collins, Silvagni, Hughes, A. Pearce, Ibbo.
The other pressing issue is the second tier: Danyle, Mayne, Suban, Clancee, The Pig, Tendai, Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Tucker, Langdon, Weller and getting genuine consistency from these players, because for some reason Ross likes this type of player most of all.
First Johnno fit and firing is an absolute must. So, so important.

Small oversight, we haven't even seen what Balic can do yet. And I do suspect we will go for English over Lobb, primarily due to asking price. He still covers the ruck drifting forward option.

Lobb should be our primary target. Hill and McCarthy both want to play for Freo so do those deals last. I hate to see Lobb going to the Slime.

We missed our chance with Lobb when he was with the Black Ducks - you can't prise Hall off Murdoch, they got married and the deal's done. To get Jerry out of there you've got to come up with much more than Rupert's got, you're crazy if you've think you've got that.

1st order of business is to get better talent scouts - the kind of scout that wouldn't miss a Willi Rioli playing with Glenelg for instance.

Whilst McCarthy was always gettable for the right price I'm afraid to say, especially with his recent form, that there is no possible way we can get Lobb. The only sort of trade that GWS would look at would be one that netted them either 2 first round picks or a player of the calibre of Fyfe.
The 2 first round pick option probably wouldn't get it done because of the unknown factor vs the fact that Lobb is a gun ruckman who should get better whilst I don't think any of us would sacrifice our Brownlow medallist.
I just hope that come trade time we don't spend too much time chasing impossible targets such as Lobb and not get achievable targets such as McCarthy, Hill or Kirsten slip through our fingers.

Greg did make a mistake when he said "every AFL club is interested in him''. He didn't count on Fremantle's continued blindness to talent in our own backyard. I can see them doing the same this year with guys like English, Petrovski-Seton and other local guns available.

Lobb is 23 and McCarthy is 21 - shirley they can be part of a rebuild? Or are we aiming for sometime post 2025? People don't usually trade as a means to rebuild because talented young players are rarely on the table - but in this case they may be and we can avoid the lottery of the draft and potentially shave a couple of years off the arrival of that magical premiership window.

I don't understand the posters on hear calling for English to be drafted, sure he may be talented and tall, but these guys take years to develop, Lobb is 23, 5 years further in his development and a known quantity. after his 4 goal haul against the weagles his price has indeed gone up, for good reason.
Drafting (especially talls) is always an unknown.
Given our core group of stars (Fyfe, Hill, Neale, Walters, Bennell, A Pearce) are all in their early to mid twenties, I think the addition of Lobb, McCathy and B Hill would be worth our third round pick and losing a couple to free agency (Mayne, Clark, Suban etc).
