According to
this Lobb is also looking to join McCarthy and Hill on the way home. While I'd love to have him, this is a massive test of whether RL and co are actually intending to rebuild or not. There's no way we can maintain our draft picks and get these players.
The smart move would be to wait until their contracts expire and claim them on the cheap, maybe benefiting with another early pick next season as we 'rebuild' and face another tough year. Yet I can too easily see Bond and co throwing away our chance at some fantastic kids to over reach bringing in homesick West Aussies that we're in no rush to get and face little competition for.
An ideal scenario would involve Hendrix and any compensation picks we may get for Mayne, Suban or others on the chopping block for McCarthy and Lobb but I doubt GWS will throw Lobb in cheap given their stupidity over McCarthy last year. Still, they may be tempted as draft picks help earn points for their academy bids.
I'd also love to see Bond come out and say pick 3 is off the table. Show you're actually serious about this rebuild.
