I know the club is trying to wring every dollar out of the members, but it's a bit harsh that they make Johnny Docker buy a reserved seat. I mean, he's just a young surfer dude on the make, and I'm not sure a mascot's salary is that high. Couldn't they just give him entry into the ground? If he's doing his job properly, surely he wouldn't be spending much time in his seat anyway.

I just hope he gets his membership in by 30 November 2016, otherwise poor Jenny Docker could be sitting by herself, and she's just a kid.

It seems a bit early to be asking people to commit to 2018 memberships when the club hasn't even committed to playing there yet. I gather there will be a massive price for the 2017 membership. You know, to cover the cost of the transition.

I'm curious to see how many people give up there memberships and become walk ins when they want to catch a game at the new stadium. With that many seats there's not gonna be a worry of a sell out anymore.

Yes Bizkit, I'll certainly be thinking twice about renewing my membership. Knowing that you can just roll up and get a good seat makes game day buying a lot more attractive. I presume we'll also follow the Etihad precedent and simply shut large chunks of the stadium when demand doesn't warrant opening them. This means that members seating won't cover the whole ground. Tricky.

Its a great shame that the AFL doesn't have a lot of money tied up in the stadium. If they did, they'd have to encourage big crowds, which might mean having a word in the umpires ears about going as easy on Freo as they do on the toast.

Fine, don't renew your membership. Sure, you can still see the game, support your team and catch up with family and friends at a much better price, but it just means more game day members experiences for the rest of us.

When all the prices mentioned for the new stadium are 5-10x more than I'd like to pay to watch a game of footy let alone RL footy, I can see a lot of people giving up memberships for the occasional walk in game.

Many years ago my parents travelled on the Indian Pacific train, going economy, which was charmingly called Red Kangaroo. One night an announcement was made over the loud speaker:

I know a few members that are already saying they're not going to stump up for a season seat rental. Given the spare seats in the stadium, they can choose which games to go to without needing a guaranteed seat. Even rock up on the day and buy a ticket. Fancy that for modern day convenience.

I doubt most budget seat holders are going to want to stump up gold prices for budget quality seats. Not in the current economical and dysfunctional Freo climate.

Come the new stadium, FFC admin will probably no longer be able to take Freo memberships for granted, as they have for many years. It might actually make people there accountable for something, when their supply / demand Subi cash cow has been milked.
