I made the effort today to watch the Cl vs SD colts game to see our future number 3 draft pick in action as I had never seen him live...I left totally dismayed.
He is lazy, disinterested, chases easy ball and had zero impact in the game.
I know its just one game but i can seriously see him being a slider if what I saw today is an indication of his current worth.
He has been injured this year but appeared fully fit, played the game out and was just very average.

I now hope we get a highly rated gun from Vic like McLuggage, Brodie etc, have the patience to get Tim English or trade our way to two top 10/15 picks so we can get Powell-Pepper from EP aswell.

I think he can play.

But if a WA boy wants out of Gold Coast and you have the number 3 pick. You have a red hot dip for OMeara dont you?

Todd Marshall looks pretty decent too and he has not qualified for the GWS academy.

Demo1 Do you have an opinion on the Claremont ruckman Goddard who played in that game? He's another one that's been invited to the draft camp..

I saw Tim English went pretty good in the reserves, seems to be on the up but we might have to be patient with him.. I don't think its a real risk if we take a Vic Country boy because most of them are at boarding school away from their families anyway and will probably be the least risk in actually adjusting to the AFL program.

That doesn't sound very promising. Always like to read your reviews on WAFL talent.

O'meara is elite. Nearly overshadowed Abblett in his break out year a couple of years ago. His ability to break away from packs and change direction is rare. If he gets fit and gets game consistency will become the top mid in the comp IMO. The only problem is he can't get fit. I would be testing the waters there and I'm sure we have. Apparently he is keen on a trade to a Vic club unfortunately.

That's Vic pr baloney - every club in Victoria like to think that the best players are looking to join them. After a couple of years after the draft however, most young fellas playing footy look for opportunity, lifestyle and cash on the barrelhead (which equates to personal value to most).

If I was a couple of years into my 20s, from WA and playing professional footy the prospect of the Gold Coast lifestyle would be pretty hard to beat. Yet the Steves' new training facilities would also cause me to think about coming back home - based in Cockburn or not.

Hope your right Polly. Would love to see him at Freo. Trained with us before he was drafted if I recall?

Thanks Dockerbythesea...
Chewy - Funnily enough I was not aware that Goddard had been invited to the draft camp so i didnt go there with the intention to watch him too closely.
It was pretty obvious early on however that he is a big talent so I did start to pay more attention to him.
I was impressed by his sheer size, he played up forward aswell and is a powerful lead and mark that kicked a few goals. He covers the ground really well and will be sought after in the draft for sure.
I think this draft has the potential of being another 2008 for Freo. There is so many gems in the WAFL colts this year.
I was impressed by a half backer for Claremont called Lucas Baker and small forward Clinton Yarran for SD.

Back to Petrovski-Seton, I recall him having far fewer possessions at the end of the game than what show up now on the WAFL app - maybe Claremont protecting their investment?

Thanks for that Demo1. Actually it was the state draft combine that Goddard was invited to - which looks like a mix of u18's and overaged WAFL players in the case of WA players
